@piranha You got it in reverse, its' because she was made a victim she is on the spotlight, if only those damn "gamers" would stop giving her reason to "play the victim". And that precisely her game being a "conversation piece" that attracted the attention of "gamers".
I dunno those damn gamers looks very much like very stupid to me.

That wasn't my point? The shitshow is not her forging, she would have gone the way of many other twine's author who got covered ... dismal obscurity from the spotlight.
But hey stupid gamer for you!
BTW she has an interesting life from a mainstream perspective, it will make an interesting spotlight as she is quite the character, flaws and quality.

If someone says something blatantly horrible I think it's perfectly fine to insult them to their face. As long as you're not trying to pretend that it's an argument for them being wrong. "Be polite to bigots" is not the take home lesson from this.
Because saying that one of the most harassed people in recent years is trying to "play the victim" is an absolutely abhorrent thing to say.

btw depression quest is actually pretty good. it feels honestly written and does justice to its subject matter. shame the only thing ppl talk about is how it supposedly got "unfair coverage" (i still don't really understand why this is such a big deal even after more than 1 year of following the discourse around gamergate tbh).

what a certain sort of person cant seem to grasp is that Zoe isnt in the spotlight for "being a victim." "being a victim" is horrifyingly commonplace. shes in the spotlight for taking a stand against that victimization and not backing down, for years.
no one says "oh that rosa parks. shes only famous for being discriminated against." no its the refusal to accept a fucked up status quo that makes a person a hero.

Really? I've suffered from anxiety disorder and depression for the duration of my adult life and I thought Depression Quest was ham-handed and half-assed in dealing with the subject matter. People supporting the game's integrity claimed it gave solace to depressed people, showing them they are not alone, I have to strongly disagree with that, if anything depression quest made me upset that people might think depression is as simple as what's presented though Zoe's game. Kudos for trying something I guess, but I really wouldn't herald it as the paragon of games dealing with mental illness just because it is one

Yeah, that's why I never had a tantrum about not liking the game the way others have because I saw that I only have myself to blame for not making a better game about my own problems

that's "being a victim" and "game", you dumbass
I thought this entire ordeal would have taught us not to jump to ad hominem attacks? LOL! "Don't insult me while I'm insulting someone else!"

Gonna shift this line of conversation back to the film (probably for good reason)
I absolutely think Quinn's story is an interesting one, and I'll definitely be checking out the book, but I'm curious how they're going to adapt something as internet-centric as this to film. I have faith that the production team will have figured something out by the time they start shooting, but I'm just curious as to how it's all going to translate.
They will show part of her childhood in school, where she was an outsider and possibly marginalized (key point in the movie) They will continue up to whatever happened to make her insta-famous. They will show the real-life repercussions of whatever the hell it was. They'll show her coming to peace after that whatever the hell it was subsided. Seems possible, and little internet requirement. They'll even possibly show someone bothering her at home and whatever for dramatic effect. As you can see, plenty of avenues. Throw your own, so we can make the movie before it even comes out!

It's hollywood, they'll make fun of a cyber interest and her "robotic arm" to cast her as the outsider a bit crazy but turn around and make her a genius designer before the big main downfall at the end of the 1st act. Dramatic string ensue. If only they could make that a woman version of the movie "Scott Pilgrim" fighting against the evil boyfriend and his minions!
Zoe; "Get a fucking life", send a 1 up mushroom on his boyfriend head that hit his forehead.

Worst thing about it is that politicians abuse people like Zoe and are using them to introduce Net Neutrality Act - hence now ONZ is very friendly and cooperative with both Zoe and Anita. Whether you stand for or against what what they are doing, when politicians start listing things that internet providers can and cannot block, we (the whole internet) are screwed and we can't let that happen. Here is a video, so ironical, voice of reason coming from a porn star

I think they're referring to the UN hearing on online abuse and harassment http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1116476I skimmed some parts of the report and it does seem to contain some questionable suggestions (it seemed to suggest filtering and tracking at an ISP level, which is a terrible idea). But you can hardly hold Zoe & Anita responsible for the entirety of the report. They were there to talk about the abuse, not support specific measures. But, what the heck is ironical about a porn star being a voice of reason?? (not that that's even remotely true about Mercedes Carrera, but that's beside the point)
