Just a quick update:

For a variety of reasons, which I hope to explain in a longer article at some point, I decided to go back and redo the whole game as a platformer of sorts. (Bit of a change, huh?) Why? Because it was the only way to do the game's story and setting justice. It was a hard decision - discarding an almost-complete game and more than 100 hours of work - but it was absolutely worth it.

I've updated the game's page on my website with some screenshots & info, and am considering doing a slightly bigger preview soon.

And for those of you who liked the graphical style of the old version, I haven't deleted all that stuff, and I'm sure it will show up somewhere, in some way, in some other game.

Do you think that I could possibly get the original version to try?

 Sad

Your original concept seemed really unique. If you say the game was almost complete, is there really no way you could post it at least as a curiosity?

I'm glad you guys are interested in the original version, but I won't be posting it. There are two reasons:

a) I don't like the idea of putting half-finished works out there.
b) There is still a lot of stuff in there I might use one day.

I hope the new version will be equally interesting, though. It's quite different in many ways, but the spirit is the same. And I'm very happy with it.

For shame. I'll be looking forward to the article you mentioned to hopefully understand your motivation behind this move better...

For now, trust me when I say that this is the best thing that could possibly have happened to this project. It's more atmospheric, it plays better, it's more immersive, and I can finally tell the story I wanted to tell the proper way. And it's not just a generic "old-school" platformer - it still has a heavy emphasis on exploration and on improving your ship, on collecting resources, avoiding anomalies and completing research.

I'm okay with this, since you feel so strongly about it. (I actually like this a little better as I love explatformers)
