Today, well, roughly the last two weeks, I gave Flixel a try (along with iTween, Ogmo Editor and SFXR) and came up with this platformer/shooter wip. I'm just amazed at how fast the project is growing thanks to these API/softwares! Oh, this is absolutely wonderful! Very solid satisfaction, gathering those stars. Are they just points, or do you plan something more?

I'm not sure yet; I plan to add different weapons and characters, so they might be used to buy these new stuff! I'm pretty sure they will be used to unlock new stuff anyway

This makes handling enemies a pain. Make it so that your direction is independent of your axis. Otherwise it's very kirby-like and cool!

I would recommend changing the control scheme to z and x or something. Shift and control isn't terribly easy to coordinate.

I began work on a basic game framework for Haxe. Nothing fancy to start off with, just some basic scene management, some asset importing, and possibly a little camera control. The game I want to make with it is going to be fairly basic. I'll probably want some basic tweening as well. But I can probably either port the Greensock classes or find a Haxe-tweening class that someone has already made. I'm planning on targeting both Flash and C++ with this particular framework.

Yesterday evening, I finished a minor milestone in the framework of my pro-gen Zelda project; and while not a fully-functioning game just yet, it's at good point to begin other, similar-in-nature projects from. Basic items and barrier objects are available (but no cave/passage doorways yet, and trees/bushes are just an obvious placeholder graphic), along with a parent "oPlayer0" object linked to 48 playable characters (child objects), where any programming in the parent will result in all 48 becoming immediately functional. This could be an ideal starting point for a tremendous number of projects; not *just* my Zelda-Roguelike; and I'm considering making it openly available, barring the minor issue of hosting. It's on my Box.net, although it may require me to send you an e-mail invite. PM me if it does. EDIT: It's for GameMaker 8.0. Probably important to mention that.

I created a Haxe class that lets the user load up graphic resources whether they are building for Flash or C++. You just feed the class the path to the file as an argument, and it does the rest. I'm one step closer to developing for Flash and the iOS concurrently.

Technically yesterday but who cares I was bored and created a small Game Of Life Sim. You can load in pre-created shapes that can be created in the tinyLIFE Pattern Creator which lets you create a 50x50 pattern. The patterns above are top=CoeShip/bottom=Gosper Gun There isn't a lot of premade patterns yet but I'll probably add more over time. If you want to recreate some you'll find a huge amount HERE. You can download tinyLIFE HERE.

This morning I finished a song in PxTone Collage that I started last night. I haven't sat down with PxTone and made a song from scratch in a few years.
I worked out this arrangement with my ladyfriend where I have to produce a song every week or she has to beat me up. Week one is in the can!

Today I finished the first version of an attack animation for our new game. Traditional animation is loads of fun. (But for some reason, Firefox doesn't play it in proper speed, oh well, enjoy it frame by frame then!).
