I've been trying to strike out as a Indie Game Developer for say 2 years now. Finally I have something to show, or maybe share with you guys. I'm not trying to self promote or sell my game, I just want to see what your reactions are to the game I made.

Here's a link to youtube

Thanks!

Note: I updated the link to the most recent version that now contains the S.M.A.S.H game mechanic.

It seems potentially interesting, but the art direction is pretty weird - bright, clashing colors, and the backgrounds don't seem far enough in the distance to suggest the deepness of space, despite the spaceship motif.

It's like looking down into a shallow pond which reveals more interesting things than staring down a deep blue lake.

As for the colors, space doesnt have to be boring uniformly colored entity.

Don't you agree?

What I mean is, the background moves as if it were right under the ship.  If you had the background move at a slower rate compared to the ship, you would have more of a feeling that the background was very distant.  As it stands, it creates the impression that you are flying around in a cavern of some kind.  You might experiment a little with this, perhaps having layers of background that move at different rates and are blending into each other to create the impression of flying through a nebula.

I've done some more improvements on the game based on the first post. Gone is the shooting mechanic which has now been replaced by the S.M.A.S.H mechanic! Smiley

it LOOLS like it could be fun, i'm all for more hammerfall-type mechanics. But I agree about the visuals, though if it's fun I could overlook them. It's impossible to really tell without playing it.

also, for future reference, you'll probably get a lot more feedback in the Feedback board (last one on the index page). I'm guessing a mod will move it there anyhow...

Looks neat. But why on earth is it called Gum Drop? I was expecting a Match 3 game of some kind with a name like that.
