what kind of sissy is worried about offending people
Hey, I have not problem offending people when it's unintentional and not done hatefully.  Like, the fact that I'm a pacifist really offends some people.  And I hate when things are politically correct for no reason (political correctness is fine if it's replacing a loaded hate-speech term), and I'll happily offend them if that's what it takes to proclaim that political correctness has gone too far in whatever specific instance I'm highlighting.

But there's a difference between being not-politically-correct (so offending people like feminists by using "Mankind" instead of "Humankind" in one's essays; and yes, I was called on that once; I mean, come on, "Mankind" obviously includes women), or using blatant hate speech.

So I'll offend people alright, but the people I'm offending know (even if they don't want to admit it) that I'm not trying to offend them or be hateful in any way, I'm just doing my part fighting the menace of overbearing political correctness.

Now that said, there is a very very fine line with all this, and some terms are just plain derogatory and hateful, so politically correct solutions are entirely reasonable and acceptable.

Hmm, interesting hypothesis professor.

25 page thread on banning Super Joe.

Wait, we're still talking about banning him, right? Or has this degraded into an intellectual discussion? Droop

I think the need to offend people is actually kind of a sign of weakness, which is why I earlier said that sometimes Super Joe acts like a baby. It's like: your ego is so fragile that you need to occasionally put other people down so you don't feel so bad by comparison? Self-confident people don't need to engage in that, since they have strong enough egos that it's not necessary.

Or in other words, eventually as people grow up they lose the need to speak badly of other people in order to think highly of themselves by developing more effective ways of thinking highly of themselves. It's not just a coincidence that most of the people who call other people gay or fags online are around 12 years old, it's just that they haven't yet developed better ways to make themselves feel socially important yet.

Considering that, I also think it's stupid to look down on people who put others down: there's nothing wrong with them, they're not doing it out of some desire to hurt others, it's just an immature form of ego-protection that all people use early on in their lives. I think that instead of criticizing people like Super Joe we should offer them suggestions about how to feel socially important (which may be what Derek was doing by getting him into game-making -- making indie games is really no different than calling other people faggots, they're both just ways of feeling like a better person).

So I have a pretty big walk in shower and I usually sit down naked and let the water hit me. I know it def has enough room for 2 people. So im sitting down taking a shower and this big ma fucker almost goes on my thigh. I'm sorry but my dick is exposed and I do not want any spider on it, or biting it or whatever. God that was sooo nasty.

I usually sit in the shower too, but for me that's because standing too long in one place without moving makes me feel faint due to my ultra-low blood pressure. When I went to a skinny puppy concert (they're an industrial band if you guys never heard of them) once I felt a bit faint because there was no where to sit or move around, you just had to stand and watch them.

I would have that problem feeling faint too, but my problem would be due to listening to them. I have tried to listen to this type of music, specifically Skinny Puppy and The Cardiacs, but I've found that even repeated listening can't turn me on to that kind of music. It's sad, because I figured with an open enough mind I could get to like anything. I guess it's just not true.

I have low-blood pressure too and have no such issues.

Though I did have a similar experience a couple of years ago while observing Secret Chiefs 3 perform music live. I foolishly forgot to bring earplugs and during the song "Dolorous Stroke", Clinton "Bär" Mackinnon's saxaphone produced a particularly high-pitched note which seemed to affect my balance momentarily.

The problem is you are not injecting enough heroin.

Besides, I'm guessing it's some time in the last 10 years that he saw Skinny Puppy. Therefore it would be the more palatable piss-weak watered-down modern Skinny Puppy, which is about "dark-haired teenage girl that listens to KMFDM" grade harshness.

Been a while since I got in some quality music trolling... good times.

Ahh, I see signs of apprehension here. Could these three question marks be the first sign of fractures in Super Joe's bitter defenses against inner peace and salvation? His skipping past the first question into the next two happened fast, as if in afterthought. He used the repetition to produce an incredulous tone, a patch to cover this tender fracture, lest Super Joe's inner, sensitive side leak out and his true feelings be shown. Because under that tough exterior, behind that wall of question marks, behind that Super Joe, you're still just Little Joe.

It's okay, Little Joe. Everything's gonna be okay.

I'm not sure "like" is the right word -- a lot of the time the purpose is to make the listener uncomfortable (whereas most music produces more pleasurable sensations). E.g. this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtmLQgz3Mts

It's not really psychoanalysis, it's evolutionary biology. People evolved in tribes. People like to have high positions in that tribe, because it means more reproductive success. So people tend to put other people down so as to maximize their position, there's a strong drive to do that.
