Why does boxing and MMA always devolve into man-on-man hugging and cuddling

because of your sublimated homosexual fantasies

SUBLIMINATED?
I guess homosexual fantasies don't have a liquid state?

oh yes they do.

Spent a lot of this match hugging another man, but still I think it was a p. good fight

Wow. I'll be the first to admit I don't know anything about martial arts. But to my uneducated eyes, it looked like you stopped fighting him and started hugging after he grabbed your knee at 1:00. Why not just tap out instead? It's not like you saved your dignity.

You know if you just want a hug there are those 'free hugs' guys in every major city.

Can somebody explain to me what's going on in that video? Obviously I'm missing some crucial aspect.

I have a physics degree but they don't actually teach human anatomy, martial arts dynamics, or how to give powerful hugs. In fact most physics graduates cannot give a competent hug.

For what it's worth, although I am clueless about fighting, at least here I see two guys engaged in a fight, trying to win, doing various holds and throwing punches.

Look, I get the basics:
1) Dustin Gunn has lost the fight when he gets tipped over because he's too weak to escape the bigger guy.
2) So he's trying to stop himself from getting punched (too much) by the bigger guy by pulling him close to limit his leverage.
3) When the other guy breaks free of his hug, making room to throw punches, Dustin Gunn is in a very poor position to throw any punches himself, being pinned to his back with no room to wind up a punch. So he feebly raises his gloves in an effort not to have his head pounded off its stump.

So far so good. Here's what I don't get:
1) Why hug him for two minutes rather than tapping out? In what universe will you ever gain the advantage through this method? Is he waiting for the other guy to poo his pants? Because that would be foolish - he can still win even if that happens.
2) Is it secretly about needing a hug?

Too much "hugging" is why UFC allows its refs to stand up the fighters, if you dick around too much, they will cut your purse. It's part of their "We need to make sure fighting doesn't get fucking boring" initiative.

You are trying to find an opportunity to move one of your limbs so that you can escape or put your opponent into a submission hold. Your opponent is trying to prevent you from escaping or getting an advantageous position on him. If you notice, both of the fighter on top's legs are between the fighter below, if he can move one or both of the legs forward and put his weight more towards the guy on his back's centre of mass, it cuts his outs down by a lot.

2) Is it secretly about needing a hug?
Yes

Well, they are coupled so tightly at this point that maybe any damage to himself automatically transfers to his opponent!

This thread was actually degrading into intelligent conversation on the latter half of page 43. Can't let that happen now, can we?

I played Turrican 2 once. It seemed really rather ridiculously difficult at the time. I didn't enjoy it much. That Turrican fan game was pretty ace, though. Not that either can hold a candle to the masterpiece which is Vectorman 2 or anything.

As far as I know, he's just being a troll. Ignore his comments, and eventually he'll get bored and go away.
