Congrats to everyone and especially Mr. Crackerblocks. There was no doubt in my mind that the 2009 Bear Driving Sim of the Year would take this. It was just too fun.
Most of the top placers were obvious but where the chips fell everywhere else was surprising to me. In any case, nice work fellas.

Call it the "Honorable Discharge" for not voting for yourself.

I think the rating is fair enough. I would've rated many of the lower-ranking games differently, but I guess they just didn't get enough votes for the ranking to be more "precise" I've actually made a video prominently featuring my seven favorites entries to the Cockpit Compo It was my first time trying to make a video, it was a bitch to make using only free software, there are still some issues and the quality isn't close to what I hoped it would be. Anyway, I think it turned out rather "watchable", so here it is:

The games I voted for and why:
Enviro-Bear 2000: Great use of the cockpit concept, absolutely fucking hilarious, and you're a fucking bear driving a car through the forest, with other bears also driving cars, with badgers and shit. and the right mouse button makes you roar, which serves no practical purpose whatsoever. How do you beat that?
Flying Dutchman: Gorgeous, the boat gives a great feel, and it gains bonus originality points for not being futuristic.
My Cockpit is Bigger Than Yours: Great claustrophobic feel and atmosphere, using the cockpit to hinder your ability to see the environment, thus making you really feel like you're in a cramped little vehicle flying through an abstract world looking for elusive blinking voxels.
PhotonTrap: Shit-tons of potential for an awesome multiplayer game, and already fun in its own right.
Vessel-IV: Best cockpit use of the compo, hands down. You HAVE to read the cockpit, cause that's all you ever see. The atmosphere is fantastic, with only a text feed of a cryptic man communicating to you as you fly through this strange environment. You only find out what you're flying in half-way through, even.
Viewpoints: Probably the most original game in the compo. Very well written and unique in its gameplay, that makes a great and original use of the compo's concept.
Games I'd have voted to if I had more votes:
Landfall: Great cockpit feel and massive potential as well.
Okkuplektor: Another really great one, though I felt most of the levels were basically "run to the exit", which might have been intended. Very nice visuals, though the sounds didn't work for me properly.
Star Cannon: Great aesthetic and possibility for fun.
vectorLocust: Fun, polished, arcadey, with strategy elements and a great presentation.
Wagon Game: Just lots of potential here too for something awesome, and impressive for the very tight timeframe Fifth made it in.

This was a ton of fun. I know I only got one vote (besides myself ) but dang it if it doesn't feel good to make a game and have people just try it. Congrats to everyone!

Yeah, ditto. I feel much happier about this one than the demakes compo, despite getting a couple more votes in that one. I think because my demakes entry petered out, whereas this one is finished. Not very much fun, but finished In hindsight, maybe I should have voted for myself for a 100% VOTE INCREASE but there were too many really good games...
