This would explain a lot, and not just for me, either.

Not sure if I agree entirely with that article, but I understand the point it is trying to get across.

There's some more studies and writings on this subject and it basically boils down to, "don't reward yourself before you've done anything."

I think with a project, it becomes beneficial to share things once you are ready to share things. If you are looking for feedback, some testing, or just some help, putting a project out there and talking about it makes total sense. If you have an idea or a few mock-ups, constantly chattering about your project before it has even come to life can be a really difficult thing to deal with.

I know since joining TIGS six months ago (and posting about projects quite often and it not being beneficial), that I've recently started just keeping to myself about the bigger things I have going on. I still love sharing and talking about ideas, as those conversations are often invaluable.

Probably because the writing and cinematography and acting are top notch all around.

Doesn't apply to everyone.

Some people just like to talk about doing stuff without doing it. And some other people feel that once they've said something they are bound to their word and must complete the task.

this has applied to me on several occasions.  mostly when my ego's intention is actually looking for recognition or the ideas are premature, with no substance to attach to.  It's totally an insecure thing, not particularly relating to game projects, but plans in general.  Unless it's for my own sake and interest, and not for recognition of any kind I probably won't follow through.  I can see how I could get satisfied from just someone acknowledging my work or plans.  Enough to just feel satisfied to walk away.  It might also have to do with someone's level of maturity.  How important to them is it to finish what they start, the quality of it, and their word.

Stayed awake for 62 hours, slept for about 18 hours, then woke up with a splitting headache from caffeine withdrawal. I just drank a double size red bull and the headache went away. Now I can lie down again.

Googling "most violent nhl goalie" cuts straight to the chase and links to Ron Hextall's Wikipedia article.
