Hmm, does an MS surface pro lets you run normal windows applications on a tablet as well as the metro/"mobile" ones? Also is it going to be the first 64 bit tablet? It sounds quiet awesome on the paper.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/9/3857076/microsoft-surface-pro-in-depth-impressionsThere's certainly a trade off with the Pro compared to the RT and that lies in a combination of hardware and software. The thickness allows Microsoft to pack in an Intel Core i5 processor which gives you access to a full version of Windows 8 Pro — that means you get all your normal desktop apps. some microsoftie on irc says dont bother with the surface rt/pro and look for other win8 tabtops/laplets alternatives, tho none of them looks as cool i guess

I am pretty sure that is exactly the same thing they used to say on the iPhone.

I mean, I'm sure the Surface Pro is better than the
but the idea of being better than a semi-functional, gimmicky piece of trash justifying an extra $400 price tag is insane.
There's no reason to get a Surface when you could get either a tablet or, wow, a laptop, that does what you need, better and for less.

that extra 400$ is because surface pro is an ultrabook, not a tablet Specs: 10.6-inch ClearType HD Display with 1920 by 1080 resolution; Intel Core i5 processor and HD 4000 graphics; 4GB RAM; 64GB or 128GB storage; 720p front- and rear-facing cameras (meaning they're for video more than photos); accelerometer; ambient light sensor; compass; gyroscope; Wi-Fi A/N; Bluetooth 4; USB 3; Windows Pro 8. Dimensions and weight: 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches and just under 2 pounds.

The Surface is a joke
I am pretty sure that is exactly the same thing they used to say on the iPhone. The only reason the iphone succeeded is because of service plans to subsidize the cost of the phone and the marketing. They had fanboys, marketing geniuses, and a product that looked nice. You'll be hard balled to find non-techie gadget fans who haven't been hypnotized by apple's amazing marketing campaigns. Microsoft doesn't have any of that. Apple is like the manifestation of the concept that having a product thats slightly better becomes "holy shit this is 100x better" in the consumer's eye with some good marketing.

It's all the same bullshit Anyways Microsoft's entire production concept at this point is to make a new software or product and sort of throw it over the fence and hope there's a market for it. I mean, a tablet with a kickstand and attachable keyboard as its main selling point is pretty obnoxious. There's a reason why during the big Release Day event in Times Square there were more people lining up to use the crosswalk than to get a Surface.

You mad bro?
Anyway, you are probably biased against MS so there is no point taking your ranting seriously.
The point of this tablet is not the keyboard, it's that you get a very powerful tablet that can run any windows application. You can probably use it to play space quest on the train or whatever...
Well the concept is probably that this tablet is going to replace your desktop\laptop\tablet. It's all 3 of those in one product.

Do you hear that? It is the sound of any remaining credibility your argument had going down the drain.

I enjoy the humor of how Pompi starts with "hey is this thing any good? can it run windows programs?" and when someone (me) says it's dumb either way he immediately starts arguing not by defending the thing, not by even responding to my arguments; just directly going for attacks on my character.
WHAT A TWERP.

You did start off by just saying it was a joke instead of explaining why you thought it was a joke. I think that, unfortunately, set a low standard for the discussion right out of the starting gate.
I'm still not sold on any of the tablet computers. It seems like a good thing for a person like my mother, who is not computer savvy in the least, so she can enjoy the pre-packaged OS and just buy apps without worrying if they are compatible with her device. If you're going to do anything more complicated than that and surfing the internet, it seems better to get an inexpensive laptop.
My brother is a MS geek and a professional programmer, though, and he swears by the Windows phone and the Surface. It's not without some fans.
