There's a livestream of it for those looking for one: http://live.reuters.com/Event/Boston_Marathon_Explosion (graphic imagery)

I hope there's nobody at risk of death. Sad

This probably does deserve it's own thread to be honest, because I'm sure there's people on here with some crunch time horror stories to share.

In any case, when I work on my own stuff I make sure I don't overwork and sleep 8 consistent hours every day .. but most don't have any luxury like that.

And I still managed to totally burn myself out.  Only reason I'm not making more games right now is I'm too tired to do so at the moment D:

ya things like that article are pretty much the reason why i would never want to work in the game industry ever. i've had a few shitty office jobs in my life and this seems like the same thing only 100 times worse.

Went and did that: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=32856.msg875934#msg875934

Personally I have had some problems with my work hours in university and other projects. Lately I have started to record my work hours so that I know everyday when to stop.
Btw CAS, would you be interested in game-industry if the atmosphere were different? And just being curious, what is you profession or future profession? I mean software engineering for example tends to share some similarities with game-industry, though it isn't generally that bad.

actually i'm not sure if i'd be interested. i mean i'm developing games as a hobby right now and it's too fun to be losing it as a hobby by "going pro." but yeah, let's just say that game industry jobs apparently being shit is making the decision easier for me haha.

re: my profession: right now i'm a university student (communcations) and doing side jobs occasionally. i plan to work in something media-related when im finished, probably radio journalism.

That pretty much confirm an old saying I told to friend once: the more interesting a person is to video games, the less likely it will be interesting to be in!

Yeah, going pro tends to change it a lot. The reason why I asked your profession was that your post somehow gave me an image that it contrasts game-industry, unlike for example some software-engineering stuff.

The Boston bombing is confusing to me. It's horrible and really disgusts me, and yet, why go through all this trouble and not make a bigger statement by killing more people? I guess bombs are a pretty big statement in of themselves, if that's what they were trying to do. I'm grateful that of all the people that were so close to the blast very few people lost their lives.

Were they worried they were going to get caught and so detonated early? or were they delayed?
Who did this? Is it another stupid kid(s) like James Holmes? Or was it an international thing?

Feeling proud of all the people that were so quick to help right away.

i kinda still fear that it might be a breivik-type situation where it's just a ruse to divert attention from something bigger they have planned.

hope i'm wrong on this.
