fuck! i still need to play team; i'm a huge damn fan of trauma center, despite only having played under the knife and second opinion (which i love, and which game grumps have done a pretty entertaining playthrough of quite recently; they're nearing the end) of course i have to play new blood first |

New Blood is actually just okay. The co-op is excellent, but as a single player title it is pretty unbalanced. A lot of the levels come across as though they were not playtested for earning high scores, and often Dr. Blaylock's versions of stages are traumatically difficult to earn an XS rank due to her healing touch not slowing down time. It's the only Trauma Center game I didn't bother to go for all XS ranks, which is where the series really shines (simply playing for completion is much too easy).
If you're going to play New Blood co-op or just for completion, though, it's pretty good.
Also Trauma Team is completely unrelated in story to the previous games with the exception of Naomi/Nozomi, who returns from Second Opinion but doesn't speak about the events of that game. Trauma Team almost entirely deals with realistic situations and illnesses, and doesn't feature GUILT or STIGMA or any of the sci-fi wacky diseases from the earlier titles. You don't gain or lose anything by playing it before New Blood.
