This is too good to be lost to the new page. It's also great to read a story about a game developer who had to keep trying to get it right, but never gave up.

so yeah, the my-friends-are-true fallacy
the thing is we made up all this gender bullshit also. its a way to feel and not like objective states. you can see this by the way people misgender each other constantly, so like, when the trans war comes and you choose sides, thats really about
whether your friends are shit or not (spoilers: no)
so like: of course im gonna say my friends arent shit, but whoever im arguing with, i have to take it as given that their friends arent shit also
like it could be about music or games or anything you can be butthurt about. none of this stuff really matters, its about fights.
but, like, it does matter because if you tell someone they suck enough they will want to die, we made that real. lets not make anyone want to die this year if we can manage that. #treatises#my friends are good tho#i have selected the correct friends

I've discovered my game development process seems to run along these lines: I am chiseling away at a block of madness and somehow ending up with something somehow coherent and functional, which is almost scary to me. I've made more progress on this project than any I've attempted before it by continually letting the scope grow wild and unkempt and then plucking the fruit from it, which seems contrary to a lot of advice I've read on the matter. In any case, onward! EDIT: On another note, I want to throw it all out there into a Devlog because I am excited about my progress but experience has taught me that it tends to keep me out of the "realistic" side of things and thrusts me too deep into the "unrealistic" side of things to make any progress, so I promised myself I will wait until I have at least a short demo to put up. I am almost there, but it all still feels too jerky and rough for my liking (plus there's no sound yet). My overwhelming impulsiveness is at war with my artistic sensibilities... Anybody else wrestle with those demons? Any suggestions?

I am 34 and still don't drive. My anxieties make it a bit too dicey for surrounding drivers, let alone myself.

I can't imagine not knowing how to drive. It's just way too useful in too many situations. Even if I lived in a big city with public transportation, I'd need to know it if I traveled somewhere that didn't.

My issue is simply that I don't have enough money to get a driver's license (yet). I'd actually be really interested in getting a license, it's a very useful piece of paper to have. Don't you get your driver's license on school over there or something?

A driving license is a third of what I make each years, a unity license would be more worthy
