I'm saying there is a debate to be had when there is emergent property, do the teacher who taught art to the students the creator and not the students? Isn't teaching akin to hi level creativity? we can spot trend based on schools? what does creativity mean? Be fearful as this might actually create a definition of creativity to which is only attainable by a few ... I mean how much creativity there is in call of duty or the last of us? INB4 EVERYTHING IS A REMIX

I have just watched dawn of the planet of the apes, and good damn it's my first reverse uncanny valley, human actor looked so like wooden dolls near the apes face it was jarring ... I think woman are loosing the battle to cgi now, a scary thoughts! (more like animator + actor performance = best of all worlds) also the vanity (final) shoot on the eyes at the end to say "look at our cgi precision fucking noob, we are the master, we own the art" damn!

You should split it into a thread called "Limits of procedural art" or something like that. It spans the same space as talks about AI.

Instead of saying reverse uncanny valley you should say that the uncanny valley has been crossed.

In fact there is two definition of uncanny valley, the original robotic one from mori, Aka It's creepy. And the mainstream public version that kind of stretch, aka it look CG, fake and wooden.
It's like meme, one is image macro, the second is informations as life forms. They are related but don't have the same definition, also see Pericalypsis or Die Kultur Als Fehler.

basically the gimmy/mainstream usage is that you say "uncanny valley" instead of "uncanny"

I believe he means that actresses are at risk of being replaced with CGI models.

Competition will make it better. Actors were starting to stand still too much in front of the camera, they should be more realistic. Sometimes actors don't look like they're breathing.

Game of Thrones actually did have CGI nipples. They had to put green tape over the originals.
I'm not joking, look it up.
Also I doubt I'll live the day when realistic CGI will have proper human face expressions without actually costing more than actors.

It's already common to do stunts and action scenes with CGI versions of the actors. I can see the same happening to dance scenes for example.
We're still a long way from replacing dialogue scenes with CGI, but I think it might happen one day. Or maybe practical effects will make a comeback before that happens (MAD FUCKING MAX).

There will be a hybrid solution regarding body motion and face expressions, a quantity of real captured data for varying situations which are interpolated to approximate any situation. That means it will never be perfect but probably close enough so that once you captured enough characteristic data of the actor he can be repalaced by his computer generated image.
That's the only approach that makes practical sense.
