Wow, my game got some coverage in what I assume is a japanese indie game blog, here's the link: http://matatabi-yasiki.blogspot.jp/2015/07/operation-hardcoredemo.html. Anyone fluent in japanese here?

From my rudimentary hiragana and kanji skills, all I understand is that the title of the blog is matatabi manor or something like that.

Still, pretty cool to see my game featured out of the blue in random japanese blogs :D Guess itch.io does work (I assume the extra demo downloads helped our Greenlight!)

"Iron Man and Transformers Were Censored by US Military For Getting Too Close To The Truth"

The relevant files about this military involvement in Hollywood, from the California-based Department of Defense Entertainment Liaison Office were released after a Freedom of Information Act request by Bath University’s Dr Matthew Alford, whose research focuses on the relationship between entertainment, political power, and propaganda in the United States.

The 1,400-page military document can be downloaded as the 2004-5 weekly reports here and the 2005-6 weekly reports here.

The sheer size of the DOD’s involvement in the entertainment industry is mind-boggling. The full DOD film list details just how much the military has involved itself in Hollywood.

The US military has also shown interest in the Transformers series, as well as shows ­including American Idol, Hawaii Five-0 and even Cupcake Wars.

“It is shocking that the Pentagon is poking its nose into a mind-boggling range of TV shows. Many have nothing to do with the military,” Dr Alford said.

There's basically a law or stipulation regarding portraying military hardware in US media that has a set of rules you have to follow, like you can't show it having a catastrophic failure for no reason, etc.  It's a holdover from previous eras, like the Comics Code, etc.

It's not new, and it's not some nefarious plot about the military filling Cupcake Wars with propaganda. There's a reason that article is so intentionally vague about what they actually found. It's probably just a list of the shows and movies that have some military hardware shown on them.

They told about US army cooperating with Bay around the first movie release in promo materials.
How else do you get all the hummvies and tanks?
And they dont make secret of it being a propaganda. Does anyone remembers American Army?

It think they have to buy rights on some of the weapons or something.

Rifles by Bushmaster, which made the gun used in the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting last December, have appeared in the hugely popular "Call of Duty."

there was whole debacle with EA and Activision licensing real guns and even placing advertising links for buying a real rifle.
They seem to have dropped this but its still unclear if its true.

I know that Ubisoft has been doing this as recently as last year. I was involved in a project to record real gunfire sounds for use in The Division, which I think is still in production. They wanted every weapon in the game to have authentic sounds.
