I never thought Silbereisen was one to take the bait. Maybe I should have been more sarcastic...

Undertale's promising. I hope developers learn from this one.

Well, I don't know if there is really a right way to tell people this, so I guess here goes. The CT did not come back negative. The cancer in the bowel is gone, but spots have appeared in my liver. They're not operable and there's no cure. Average life expectancy is 2-3 years, though there are outliers that live much longer. fuck, must be horrible knowing that. i hope for his sake that he IS one of the outliers

euro truck is great. it's basically elite with a truck. it has a huge open map (all of europe more or less), great driving physics and a fuckton of upgrade and customization options if youre into that sort of thing. its also kind of a "meditational" experience driving across these roads if you turn off most of the realism options. but like, these "simulators" are not all made by the same dev, or even published by the same publisher. they use similar branding for marketing purposes i guess, but they shouldn't be seen as being inherently shovelware, even if they give off that vibe. there are great games with "simulator" in their name (like euro truck or farming) and there are lots of shoddy ones too ofc.

Elite with a truck? I want to play this game. Is there a best iteration in the series?!

Let's not oversell it. I enjoy it, but everything but the driving is pretty simplistic. There isn't any trading, you just do driving missions. Though there are plenty of mods, so perhaps you can mod it into something elite-like.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 form 2012 is the latest one.

ETS 2 is the one i'm talking about. never played 1 but from what i understand 2 is the same except bigger and better. you should get ETS2 when it goes on sale on steam (which is often)

Crazy nintendo speculation time: Not mine i'm not inspired today http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1125479maybe that I'm not sure an underpowered console, which offer nothing significantly new can compete in the current market, their need a justification to why consumer to upgrade. Now leak can start happening

There isn't any trading, you just do driving missions.
you can also upgrade your truck and build a company and hire other drivers AND STUFF the game is definitely in the same broad genre as something like elite

Stop posting about simulators No but seriously what even are these about? I guess they're fun but you can go out and have the same experience (and much more) by going and working in the actual field, no?

I guess they're fun but you can go out and have the same experience (and much more) by going and working in the actual field, no? yes because its so easy holding 15 jobs at the same time and also working a job irl is the exact same as playing a videogame about it the more "intellectual" response i guess is that its refreshing to play non-abstract videogames with zero fantastical or "cinematic" elements because theyre so rare outside of this particular niche. it's the difference between watching a movie and watching a documentary. EDIT: also sim games just tend to contain a lot of mechanics i like so
