Hahahahahaha!

It's funny how much our eyes are clouded by our recognition of software limitations. Ugly should be timeless.

In response to all those rumors on the right of the cover: Yes, they're all true.

The SNES and the PlayStation's first controller looked so alike. Sony collaborated on the SNES itself.
People died playing Berzerk because of Evil Otto, the most evil and easiest to draw in MS Paint.
Mario was inspired by a Nou Yowrk landlord.
Atari buried lots of ET cartridges because of the Video Game Crash of 1981(?)
If it's an innovative FPS, then the government will use them in training.
I wouldn't be surprised if a senator tried to ban video games.

Man, I liked visuals back then than nowadays' graphics. I may have been four years old when that issue was released, but it was cool.

i miss 90's videogame magazines. i wasn't poor, but i wanted to play a lot more videogames then my parents would purchase. reading those things spurred my imagination, but kind of let me down when i actually got a job and could afford them 6-8 years later.

If you had played them back then, you'd probably have loved them though. When you're a kid your quality standards are extremely low. I don't think I ever didn't enjoy a game my parents bought for me back then, except in a few rare cases.

true dat, i played countless hours on the game boy with such gems as Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and The Jungle Book.  Cheesy i owned super mario world, mario kart, and ninja turtles tournament fighter so obviously i loved every second of the SNES (i borrowed and rented countless others). i don't regret any time spent with my nintendo 64 though.

It's true that when you read about videogames and can't afford them they always look bettr than they actually are because your imagination fills the blanks.

I have a few pretty bad N64 games that I didn't enjoy even at the time, like Disney's Tarzan (complete with grating German voice acting) and Aidyn Chronicles. But yeah, I'm a pretty big N64 nut as well, I think it's safe to say that I know the system's entire library (as in knowing by name), or at least the games that were released in Euroland.

Still having a few magazines and most of my coverdisks I don't so much miss nineties video game magazines as I miss shareware. You'd get your episode which was about seven or eight levels (sometimes ten!), most of the features from the full version and they'd usually be fronting the best stuff. If you had parents who wouldn't buy you all of the latest games or you weren't part of a "sharing circle" at school you could get a huge amount of mileage out of one episode alone and you better believe that we got all the mileage that we could. But it eventually died in favour of the demo which was pretty shit in comparison.

Yeah, pretty much.

I actually remember wanting Superman 64 for my birthday but deciding on something that ended up interesting me more. I wasn't aware that it was supposed to be a "bad" game. Who knows, maybe I'd have spent my youth happily solving Lex Luthor's mazes?

Unreal holds up pretty well, and so does AvP.

I wouldn't be surprised if a senator tried to ban video games.

Anybody who remembers Joe Lieberman and Hilary Clinton's involvement in video game legislation are now considered "old."
