I'm thinking of purchasing a GameCube, since Gamestop inexplicably still sells gamecube games for amazingly cheap, as well as the console itself for around 30 bucks. I used to have one and loved it. Always wanted to play Eternal Darkness.

Problem with buying consoles later is online play.

Even when you buy it current gen this is a problem.  The player base on the console side tends to move on fairly quickly unless it's Halo.  Any game that I want to play for more than a couples month online I purchase for PC (Left 4 Dead, TF2, etc.)

i have an xbox 360 but it's collecting dust, my desktop pc is far more superior and it has almost the same games, only better. (Bioshock with directx 10 and mouse aiming FTW)
Maybe i'll buy Brutal Legend if it doesn't came out on PC too.

Also: PC has the best online play and mods, you can just buy a source game from steam and download a lot of awesome mods like Dystopia or Insurgency from it  Well, hello there!

@professordead:

Hell yes! My SNES is back home in Pennsylvania, along with a few old NES systems, so I just emulate those two these days when I get the urge to play.

@Theo:

Hmmm, I haven't really heard of any of those, but I remember getting Shadow of the Colossus after many people raved about it, but it didn't quite live up to that hype. It was a fine game with great atmosphere, but it just got a little too redundant for me. I lost interest after the 8th(?) boss and never beat it. I'll have to go back and give it another go.

Another lesser-known PS2 game that I enjoyed was Shadow Hearts: From the New World, because it's quirky, diverse cast reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy VII. But somehow, I got away from that one, too.

One of the biggest reasons I want a 360 is for Fallout 3 Wink

@Paul:

Well, Crystalis is by far my favorite NES game, but I can't imagine anything ever being able to recapture the same magic that that game did. jRPGs are okay, but I prefer the ultra-mainstream titles like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Anything else invokes too much of this image in my mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP5lz2CYNR4

Anyways, I digress... It would probably save me a lot of money and be more practical for me to play all of these games on PC, but I really wanted to experience the social aspect of XBox Live with my friends and family :/ Tough decision...

AHH WHY!

Living in Seattle, I'm exposed to that horrible commercial way too much.
