I was making a lava trap and fell in and lost everything before I could blink. First time it ever happened.
A couple of tools and some sticks landed on the ledge next to me, but the rest is allllllll gone. At least it discouraged me from continuing to play when I needed to work.

(up to now they were totally silent in MP (including the explosion)), single player shouldn't be affected at all. Unless that's what you meant? |

yeah a couple of times i died without even knowing why and it's not until i went back to retrieve my items that i saw the crater.

I think there should be at least a few objects in the game that take an insane amount of raw material to craft. Like a rocket launcher, an airplane (which runs on oil which can be crafted from coal), a GPS, etc.
Rocket launcher could be made out of iron, gold, and redstone. Individual rockets would be a block of TNT, an iron ingot, and gunpowder.
An airplane could be made from first crafting individual parts then crafting them together. A chassis (minecart + diamond), an engine (powered minecart + redstone), wings (made out of iron), propeller (iron with a diamond in the middle). Can craft 2 wings, a propeller, and an engine into an airplane. Feed it jet fuel (craft coal + gunpowder together) and it can fly (fast and far, provided you have a runway for takeoff and landing). Would at least give me something to work towards when you reach the point in the game when you're just stockpiling materials because you have SO MUCH of it.

I dunno I just feel like there should be a few "ultimate" objects like that that take a really long time to actually get.
also, restating my stance on wanting an easy mode that has both enemies and regenerative health. I hate having to truck food around with me everywhere (especially when 1 pork takes 1 inventory slot and they dont stack up for some reason) but switching to peaceful mode gets boring after a while.

Dude, I so can't wait for the implementation of automated propulsion of sorts. Rockets, motor boats,... heck, I want to build my own moving castle in minecraft.  I think notch talked about implementing a way of making "superstructures" in the future that could actually move. |

I think once the game is done and complete Notch should open it up for modding. This is like the only game in decades that i've been all like "KNOW WHAT WOULD BE AWESOME? JET PACK COWS" about and opening it up for modding could make that sort of stuff a reality.

Yeah, once Notch open sources the game, all the released games for the 15 years after on all platforms will just be mods of Minecraft.

Minecraft is too good. It's actively affecting my ability to maintain a sleep schedule and has destroyed my timeline for working on my own games.
Gorram it. I need a mod to put a timer to display how long my current session has been, maybe in the upper right. I'm tired of getting my hours murdered by minecraft, and I don't have the willpower to stay away.

This has been one of my favorite games both in the free web version and alpha (though I've only just bought alpha, have heard plenty of good things about it). It totally deserves to be in the top 10 on IndieDB and in the IGF FInalists if not Winners.

In this interview he mentions adding official server-side modding support after beta is released, and since he said that it's going to finally shift into beta pretty soon...  |

He can dig through blocks and then place them elsewhere. Not overpowered at all. He doesn't even have his bow or his fishing rod.
