Doesn't Minecraft indirectly owe its existence to tigsource?  We should totally be allowed in on that.

Agreed! The problem is that the test server is run here, from home, and only very rarely. The reason for the password is to have an easy way to include people, not to make it feel exclusive. If dozens of people join at once, the tests will get very messy, the server will get full almost immediately (I think I have the cap at 16 players at the moment, but considering it ran out of memory with just 10 players, I still have some more work to do)

I'll see if I can't work something out though..

I'm on #tigirc now. I will run the server overnight to see if it holds. I have a few invites to spare.

This was a lot more fun than I expected it to be, almost everything seems to be working fine from my uninformed point of view.
Also, vomiting slimeballs was the highlight of the day for me. Gentleman

I said I wouldn't buy it until beta, but then I did. Played for two days now. Last night I saw minecraft before my eyes even though they were closed. I have to stop playing now.  Who, Me?

EDIT: I have to say that the 100% in-program auto updater is extremely impressive.

I saw that! Nice to see minecraft getting that kind of exposure. Initially I was like "wtf minecraft that sounds like it'd be for losers" and then I played it and was like "this is awesome". Multiplayer looks like it'll set a new standard in awesome just because of the whole construction aspect. Building things with people is fun, and fighting off hordes of monsters is fun, so it stands to reason that building things with people so you can use them to fight off hordes of monsters will be amazing.

PC Gamer: Will Minecraft go up to full price when you’re done with Multiplayer Survival then? Are you going to make a big thing of the release?

Notch: When the game hits beta, the price will go up to 14.95 euro, with the final price being 19.95 euro once beta is over. I have NO idea how long beta will be, as it really depends on how much polish there is to do. Hopefully less than I’d fear.

Beta is coming this summer some time, not too long after SMP testing is out. I want to make a big deal out of going beta, then again when going to full release, but I’m not quite sure exactly what to do. I’d love for you guys to mention it. Grin

I knew it was going to coincide with SMP, but what I didn't know was whether it was the initial public release of SMP, or after it's finished and polished up, or what.

I see the following on the official blog:

Quote from: Notch
I will release the SMP server before I leave for that. It might be buggy, but I promise to fix it when I get back. It will be missing mobs. Mobs will come later on, and when they’re in, the game will officially be in beta, and the price will go up to 14.95 euro.

as well as this:

Quote from: Notch
August 30: Back to work, finishing up survival mode multiplayer. Enemies will probably get added around here.

So enemies in SMP seems to be the cutoff point for the beta, and that's scheduled for August 30.
