I can't wait to see the different kinds of environments he has been talking about (like woods and deserts).

This.

Too bad it will take two months though.

But you can have a taste of it by trying out the Forest and Paradise world generation types. It'll still be really cool to see transitions into different area types, but for now I think they offer a good look at what is possible and how much variety there can be.

It would be pretty cool if he made the world circular. Then it'd really look like a world.

Wonder where the water'd come from then. Maybe a cloud block?

I've been recently doing some minecraft skins.

Anyone been having some fun with it as well? I love it, it's so quick and easy to texture.

I'm talking about infinite maps themselves. Also, yes kYn, skins are awesome.

Very nice.

Edit:

Alright, looks like we've got some new information on Notch's future plans.

From here:

Carryable torches are going to be in, so night time visibility should be much less of a problem.

Survival multiplayer has been moved up to his highest priority after infinite maps are finished.

Giant monsters like the megabeasts in DF are going to be in.

Some monsters will be added that can dig through blocks, so camping in your house won't be 100% safe anymore.

Multiplayer competitive modes are planned, like a mode where players convert gold into points, and the team with the highest score at the end wins.  The conversion won't be instant, so opposing teams could raid their base and steal the gold for themselves.

Half blocks may be replaced with ramps.

Fantasy monsters like goblins and kobolds are planned, and the player might come across villages of them on infinite maps.

I'm pretty excited about some of this stuff.

I do.  It's fun, but it needs more content.  What I'm really looking forward to is when it gets multiplayer.

What's there now isn't worth the 10 euro price of admission, but it's still worth buying now while it's half price because later versions will definitely be worth it.

I don't like how people say how there should be win conditions and currency in multiplayer. I think it would be interesting to see a server evolve from simply trading goods to eventually establishing a system of currency and government.

Currency maybe, the only government you'll ever see in minecraft is going to be admins though.

Anyway, there'll be different multiplayer gametypes.  There'll be infinite map sandbox mode, and there'll be organized deathmatch/CTF type servers.  No reason to not have both.  Notch is willing to do the work.
