but i agree the helmet-thing will draw tons of comparisons.
but if you can deal with it, just keep it, it looks awesome.

how do you get that awesome hand-painted look with a wacom anyway?
i never figured that out.

and - its easy.. theres this one brush, one of the defaults, that looks like

the pressure sensitivity and the brush 'hardness' setting is what makes it work its wonders.

All these massive awesome posters you're doing make it look like it'd fit better as a GBA-style game rather than a GB-style game, Annabelle.

Actually if you were willing to go all the way with it, the style is definitely appropriate for more of a DS platform... or even Wii Ware.

EDIT: in the sense of a like.. dual screen 'fake ds' style mechanic on PC
or even gba.. exploring other possibilitys

i think you misunderstood.. like, a fake 'DS on PC' style.. with like, similar style mechanics with a second 'viewing window'

and i guess ill throw him out..

Really?  None of the characters look like Midna to me.

DS style on PC sounds interesting, but a second 'viewing' window sounds potentially a bit wasteful.  I guess if you do it in a rotated-DS style with left&right instead of up&down panels, it would fit a PC aspect ratio better and you could maybe play with the 'like a book' aesthetic of that?  Still, it's hard to see a split-screen beating the immersion of a unified screen, which seems pretty important for survival horror.

On the other hand, it could be cool to see the different functionality of the two screens play in to the survival horror aspect of the game.  Like perhaps when your characters are on the display-only screen, they don't have the power that maps to clicks, and that increases their sense of vulnerability and fear.  Or perhaps it's just the opposite, like on the display-only screen it's well lit, but on the touch screen you need to use the mouse as a flashlight?

i think i will probably stick to single screen,

but some of those ideas are accually really interesting/clever.
