I really like that. Feels pretty chunky and makes me want to play a 3D purely exploration-based space game.

After playing a ton of Gemini Rue and watching Blade Runner again I made a branch off of my current project to mess around with a moodier feel and lighting.

Are those walls bumpmapped? they dont look like it but even if they are they need to be deeper where the joins are. It will really bring out the lighting effect on the walls.

Doodling is fun!  Grin

For a pixelly metroidvania, because metroidvanias are 100% awesome.

I am porting my current codebase from XNA to C++/OpenGL. This means that I have to do all the graphics stuff that XNA used to handle. Luckily, I enjoy this sort of thing immensely.

Some painterly rendering in Unity.
I can already see the fun I'll have building all sorts of surreal scenes Well, hello there!

That's a really cool rendering style. I bet it lets you get away with a bunch of cheating geometry-wise on the vegetation as well.

It's been slow going lately with a lot of uni work, but for better or worse will be finished by this weekend.
Interface is slowly coming together. Everything has to be functional by the time I go to sleep tomorrow so I can polish content (and hopefully add some more) this weekend, so fingers crossed...

Thanks for the comments, guys. I might make a sorta post mortemish thing once the scene is done. As for the effect, it's pretty much just tweaked edge detection, a sobel filter and bokeh blur.

I hope you do put together a postmortem, as that's exactly the effect I was trying to put together for my current project. Good stuff  Corny Laugh
