Next week I'd like to focus on classic indie game underdogs.  I've gotten a lot of requests to feature oldies-but-goodies on the frontpage recently, and it seems like now is as good a time as any.  They don't have to be old as dirt... a couple years old is fine.  It's preferable if the game is on the lesser-known side.

So yeah, I'm taking suggestions in this thread - if we get enough good ones, let's do it.  If you can write a short review or synopsis of the game for the frontpage, that'd be fantastic, especially if it's peppered with some personal anecdotes.

This is also the place to give a yay or a nay to what's already been suggested, for whatever reason.

Game Ideas Thus Far:

Hand Point Right Triumph! War 2099 (via me)
Hand Point Right Front Line (via FishyBoy)
Hand Point Right Wings 2 (via Evil-Ville)
Hand Point Right Triplane Turmoil 2 (via email)
Hand Point Right ZZT Recommended Games (via auntie)

Ahh not many unfortunately, old klik games were many, many computers and hard drives ago.  I wish I still had my computer from when Klik Cafe was all the rage.

I'd recommend Naked Wars by the Pickford Bros. It's a play-by-email turn based strategy. Not very well known, but definitely a classic.

The Daily Click recently dug up some old klik games from the Click Café days. Includes Destruction Carnival, Nastyman, Eggit, Freddy Trims a Tree, some of Derek's old work, among others: http://www.create-games.com/newspage.asp?id=3273

Some klik adventure games are still up online:

If you want, I can check a few of my old computers to see if there are any good klik games buried there.

God, I feel old now.

The indie status on this could be questioned, but I hold it as an overlooked gem so I'm throwing it a bone.

Iron Storm is a 'what if' action shooter taking place in a 1964 where the first world war didn't end.  Graphically, it's no technological marvel, you won't find anything magical here. There are no ragdoll physics or stamina bars.  However, the "charm" comes from its interesting perspective, beefy sound, and the sensation that everything in this world is heavy, rainsoaked, and almost broken.  The trench combat is also unnervingly tense.

Imagine a more steampunk, lowtech version of Killzone.  If that tickles your fancy then check it out.

Destruction Carnival, yes!  I remember a day when, like, every game I downloaded was "inspired by DC" in some way.

Derek, I think it's time for me to cover a certain legendary game creator...  I'll give you a hint: "Retarded goats."

Also, you call dibs on Triumph?  Dag.
