Isis \ Melvins - The Pliable Foe (from the Split EP) Oh Isis, I miss you so much. You were an amazing band. Isis and Melvins are two of my favorite bands. though Melvins do have quite a few stinker albums that totally blow. every Isis record I've listened to (celestial and onwards) I've enjoyed a great deal. actually never listened to this split EP, but I am now and it's really good.

the melvins used to be my fave band. i saw them live twice. both great shows. isis is good but neurosis is better imo, though i don't listen to either band a lot.

I feel the same way about neurosis as I do about melvins. great band, they just have way too many albums.
after a certain point you should call it quits. I'm never upset when a band decides to stop making albums, 9 times out of 10 it's for the best.
personally don't think neurosis has released anything worth listening to after a sun that never sets, and melvins since hostile ambient takeover.

found this randomly on youtube. ultra obscure modern psych band (apparently) inspired by the 13th floor elevators and the doors. recorded 1 album in 2008 then disappeared into the ether, but man is this shit ever great. deeply mystical desert vibes right there.
+9000 Also: Epic.

+9000 Also: Epic. haha, your post is right above mine too. my loss for not clicking your link earlier i guess. p.s. for anyone interested: the album is out of print and almost impossible to get, so the band members rereleased it as a free download. im not sure if the original link is up anymore but i found it floating around on mediafire. the drummer posted a comment on a youtube vid and saying something to the effect of "if you can find it, download it." the download version has 2 bonus jams too. I feel the same way about neurosis as I do about melvins. great band, they just have way too many albums.

i can't speak for neurosis but the melvins are still great live. i saw them during the senile animal era and the new songs all kicked ass. also when i say neurosis is better im talking about the classic albums not the lame mid career ones.

So sad, this kid just died. He was only 22. Apparently he composed this piece before he was 16.

I don't know why this makes me think of Satoshi Kon films. It just sounds like something Susumu Hirasawa would compose.
PS. Greatest animated film of all time?

Like "Ghost Riders in the Sky" with an extra dose of morbidity. Great.
