That's kind of the paradox with Autechre, isn't it?

They could do something totally different with their sound, but, short of doing something completely out of character for them (which i would guess would probably not go over too well), it would still sound like the same old Autechre.

Or they could just not release anything new, and all their old stuff would still sound like it did yesterday.

i think they just have a certain formula they're following haha. nothing wrong with that of course seeing as no one else does exactly what they do (old school hip hop and electro sounds + avantgarde techniques). but autechre kinda remind me of kraftwerk in a way. they used be "innovative" but the rest of the world has caught up with them and now theyre just "doing their thing" but w/o the added benefit of it being "cutting edge."
