Cygnus X-1 - Book Two: Hemispheres

P.S: It's so weird to hear them performing this live in a different key...

Dinosaur Jr- You're Living All Over Me

more indie rock from my teens. definitely holds up musically, still one of the best mixtures of jangly pop hooks and BIG HEAVY FUZZ GUITAR. vocals are much worse than i remember tho and what the heck is it with indie rock and mopey navel gazing lyrics? "my name is j mascis and im a dork who is awkward around girls"- literally every single song on the album (except for the lou barlow collage thingy). it's like, sing about sth else already dude. i guess at the time it was an antidote to macho rock posturing, but today it just seems mildly embarrassing.

Quote from: Stephen Morris, drummer of Joy Division and New Order
There's an idea of punk being an hour zero movement, but The Stooges had been going for ages and they were punk rock. The MC5 were punk rock. And Hawkwind… I think punk rock started because in every small town there was somebody who liked Hawkwind.

bottom line: hawkwind with lemmy on bass were best rock band in the freaking galaxy

I gave Radiohead's Amnesiac another listen recently. I never really liked Amnesiac before, to me it felt like Radiohead were still lingering behind what had been done on Kid A but now I honestly really like it. It doesn't really reach the same heights as OK Computer and Kid A but I don't expect it to. Maybe my expectations were too high when I first listened to it, coming off of Kid A  Shrug

As of writing this I'm listening to

NOT sure what I think of it yet other than I like it.

by Smallman

A Bulgarian band everyone seems to compare to Tool, but I only hear the resemblance slightly in the bass and drums on most of their tracks. They are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands, and the bagpipes on their song

is killer. The chorus on this song (The Bond) is pretty epic, the wailing of the vocals with the buildup and drop into explosiveness of the instruments give it a pretty strong emotional charge. I love it.
