1. I've been on a Talk Talk kick since like, last May.
2. idk if I ever mentioned this here but Sturgill Simpson's cover of The Promise is stunning.

This is fantastic.
Choir-filled niceness in the following langs:
Proto-Indo-European Turkish Bulgarian Xhosa Mongolian Portuguese Sanskrit Ancient Greek Old Norse Lango
*wódr̥ *wódr̥ *wódr̥
If I'm not mistaken, the Bulgarian part is sung by the same choir that sung that nice song in Brother Bear (Transformation).
Really cool with the dead and reconstructed languages too.

Acid Mothers Temple- Benzaiteni probably have way too many albums by these guys, but this new one is actually good. it's centered around a cover of the osamu kitajima song and album of the same name (classic japanese prog) and it rocks like a mofo. the production is also way better than on other AMT studio albs, sounds like they got some better recording gear lol.

Didn't know this guy made Baba Yetu, nor that it was made for an album rather than specifically for that Civilisation game or whatever.

Also are you ever like the whitest guy shopping in the MP3 store and you go up to the MP3 store cashier to buy some MP3s and they're like rap MP3s and they all have the N-word in the title and the MP3 store cashier is like a million times whiter than you even and middle-aged?
-- edit --
Okay I got Carrie and Lowell a few months ago and never really listened to it until now oh my god why did I not listen to this early.

not usually a huge tyler fan but I added some of his stuff along with Earl and Frank Ocean's to my rotation to keep things fresh

mesh's posts inspired me to listen to mark hollis's solo album again
yep, still beautiful. talk talk/hollis aren't in constant rotation for me but i return to them periodically and it's always like "why did i ever stop listening to this??"
my fave is spirit of eden tho. love how the songs drift in and out of focus on that and sometimes fade into near silence. that level of dynamics is very uncommon for "rock/pop" and imo this music beats 90% of predictable post rock crescendo crap in terms of emotional impact.

Boards of Canada- Tomorrow's Harvest
2 years late to the party on this album. It came out during a time when I didn't listen to much newer electronic music. I have to say I don't like it that much. Their new John Carpenter/Fabio Frizzi obsession makes them sound less unique imo. One of BoC's biggest strengths was always evoking "nostalgia" w/o being "retro" or emulating a particular "vintage" style or some bs like that.
This album by contrast often sounds like they got some old Moogs and Rolands, copied some 70s and 80s horror movie soundtracks on them and put some of their typical rickety IDM beats under them. The album also lack a lot of the weird layering and strange trippy flow (what with those little interludes and stuff all over the place) of their classics like Music Has The Right and Geogaddi. Meh.
edit: That said,
is a pretty dang neat track.

The "Week's Discoveries" feature in Spotify is pretty great.
