I've been checking out this podcast, Song Exploder, which has musicians describing their process making a particular song.

Nick Zammuto of The Books did one which is really cool: http://songexploder.net/the-books

Diamond sea is amazing. I don't know if I ever saw them play it live. Great guitars in that one. Have you seen Thurston  Moore's new band? They were great.

  • Final Fantasy
  • Street Fighter
  • Super Mario 64

How did I do?

idk what it is about that detroit sound, but to me it has a "classic" timeless quality. theres just something about this combo of cold mechanical abstraction and funk sensibility that the good detroit producers get right in a way that other dance music producers don't.

I'm digging the Drexciya. Reminds me a little of Maurizio's ST album which I listened to in the early 2000s. It was probably influenced by this.

detroit and berlin producers influenced each other a lot in the 90s, so it's possible.

btw, if you enjoy drexciya you should check out the album "opening of the cerebral gate" by transllusion. it's a "side project" by one of the drexciya guys (or possibly both of them) and it's really good.
