Ditto for Unwound, Nation of Ulysses I just thought was alright for a long time but they're one of my favorites right now, with Fugazi it took me like a year for me to listen to more than 13 Songs for some reason, and then the first non-radio band I ever heard other than They Might Be Giants was Sonic Youth so obviously they had to grow on me.
EDIT: Oh, and Converge. Converge repulsed me at first but held my attention, like some gruesome medical illustration. Eventually I realized their genius.
Currently listening to Open Mike Eagle's new album.
