Hello!

I'm very happy to announce that a new version of Icy Tower is out now! You might have played it before (it's been out since 2001) but if you haven't then you should know that jumping is really fun, because that's what this game is about. Climb the tower by jumping from platform to platform, make several high jumps in sequence to activate the combo mode and get crazy amounts of points!

New features include (but are not limited to):
Totally new graphics!
Track progress and stats with profiles!
Customize gameplay to create new jumping experiences!

Check out the release video

More info (and download) at www.freelunchdesign.com/games.php?id=6 (or http://www.icytower.com).

Feel free to tell me what you think, or just have fun! Cheesy

Awesome and addictive as always. The hip-hop remix of "I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow" really brought me back to middle school. I like the diversity in the new backgrounds.

Made A-rank in under an hour. (Though I know there are crazy-good people who probably made an even better rank on their first game.)

How long until the internet finds the new fun mode?

Edit: That opt-out toolbar is kinda sleazy, though. Lips Sealed

I remember playing this years ago, it was addictive as hell, and still is. I also remember not sucking so much, I must be out of touch. I really love the new graphics, very crisp.

Will there be any updates to the other FLD games? I'd quite like to see a sequel to Alex 4.  Wink

Amazing. I have fond memories of playing this game back in 2001. It was terribly addicting. (Just one more try, I can beat my old score.) I will definitely be giving this a shot when I get home.

Heh, happy to bring back happy thoughts.

As for additional info, there are almost 200 lines in the changelog. Covering anything from changing colors to rewriting save systems. I didn't want to bore you with that. Smiley One other bigge would be that the game now tracks multiple stats (not only floor/score/combo ) so there's always something to improve on.

I'm working mostly in AS3 now and digging up old C code is not my favourite pastime. So if any other old FLD games are to be updated it will be via Flash first. That said, I've already go Happyland up and running with the same levels and everything. Just need to make a nice package of it. Wink

Great to hear there's a new update, I'm downloading it now. I've always loved Icy Tower, and even my friends who are not at all indie-gamers really quite loved it.
I'm gathering the alternate characters will still work for this version, then? I'll probably know the answer by the time you respond, anyway. I'll take this as an opportunity to express how much I've loved of all your games so far. Smiley

Wait, what was that about Happyland? You're doing something with Happyland? Shocked

Madgarden, there are always plans. Smiley But so little time...

Toadsanime, custom characters should be 99% backwards compatible. And thanks!

As for Happyland, I'm making a straight flash port. If it takes off, there might be something more.

Thanks for the cheering everyone! Cheesy
