Today I made the pivotal decision of listening to podcasts on my way to college. I expect my life to change for the better and my eyes to start shooting lasers (the latter evidently leading to the first). So what are some nice podcasts you can recommend me?

For VideoGames, I listen to Giant Bomb, Rebel FM, The GeekBox, The Gamespy Debriefings, 1up's Good Grief, Listen UP and Retronauts.

For NonVideogames, How stuff works's Stuff You Should Know, and Stuff You May have Missed in History Class. Also CBC's Quirks and Quarks, Ideas and How to Think about Science.

I listen to game podcasts all the time while animating. They usually take just over an hour, but sometimes go nuts and turn out way longer.
I've bin listening to GiantBomb.com's Bombcast every week since day 1, you might not get some of the jokes at this point but whatevs, they're genuinely fun guys.
1UP.com's Listen Up is good aswell. It's alot more scripted and by-the-numbers but y'know, sometimes you just want to hear the news.
IdleThumbs.com's podcast can be really funny, but they're full of inside jokes so that can be kind of annoying.

"Stuff You Should Know" sounds like a good podcast, I'm gonna download that.

I enjoy Downloadable content (the penny arcade podcast) from time to time, although I really must reccomend the Penny Arcade/PVP Dungeon's and Dragons special.

It's a podcast of Jerry Holkins, Mike Krahulik, and Scott Kurtz playing D&D with a pro DM, and for the later podcast, Wil Wheaton joins the party. It's absolutely worth listening to whether or not you enjoy their body of work.

Of course the Indie game development podcast show sponsored by Curiosoft and the letter 'E' (can't switch off the "commercial" - I just heard it too often  :D)

If you are an intelligent human, you will find that The Skeptics Guide to the Universe is awesome. Also, the similarly themed Skeptoid (first ~20-30 episodes are quite mixed though.)

First I will preface this with "I find all/most game podcasts to not be very useful. Sometimes humorous but I can only listen to so many. I really wish there were more good indie game podcasts that dealt more with the business and creative side of things (I don't listen to programming podcasts, way too dry). On the other wide of the coin, I listen to a lot of comics/illustration podcasts, which OFTEN focus on the business and marketing side of things, and sometimes their advice helps me in game making too.

Here's my list. I listen to a lot of others too, but these are the ones I feel are more important (ie. no one cares about TWIT and Dvorak) Wink

Art & Story
boagworld (web design)
Breaking the Panel
Idle Thumbs
In-Game chat
Indie Game Development Podcast
Digipen Podclass (though I will admit it can often be a bit dry)
Webcomics Weekly
Big Illustration Party Time
