okay, to sound like edmund's character in his internets video, i've solved it
my considerations were thus:
- first let's call something moral if it first, does no harm, second, is voluntary, and third, does good. the third part is optional, but has an additive effect
- second, it clearly is a voluntary transaction. so the question is now whether it does harm, and whether (and to who) it does good
- third, fire emblem is owned by nintendo, who are big enough that they aren't likely to stop making games due to a little reselling, so the harm done to nintendo is slight, but it exists
- fourth, gamestop receives some good for the transaction, but again it's a very minor benefit, a few dollars at most added to their profits
- fifth, the customer who buys a game for a lower price than they otherwise could -- this is a positive, but probably a very minor one
- sixth, the money gamestop gives you is minor, less than you'd get by selling it on ebay, so there's also the consideration of how moral it is to *yourself* -- good done to yourself would count as part of the morality equation, so you have to consider how much good is done to you; ideally you should get the most money possible by selling the game, and that usually means ebay; but again this is a minor good
so my conclusion is that because the positives and negatives are minor all around, and because there are so many unknowns (such as how moral gamestop is overall, how moral nintendo is overall, what you'll do with the excess money you get from selling it on ebay, and so on and so forth) it's impossible to determine whether the action is moral or not with the current information we have, but that most likely the action's moral impact (its positive or negative outcomes) is so tiny in comparison to other actions that it's not worth worrying about

i think hating megaman is valid, particularly its block puzzles. that was really an idiotic design, and that they kept repeating it in the series was hilarious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85wDqpora4o

Big list of morality.
But, you don't get money from Gamestop, You get an edge card with the amount you earned on it(edge card does not function as an edge card for discounts). The part were Gamestop gets slimy is when they run promotions like "Trade in Haze within the first week and get the retail value back". This guarantees that the retail money is still in their system, and the next purchase of Haze, all $55 goes right to Gamestop.

I only buy books at Amazon, I buy most of my console games at EB, and all of my PC games with Digital Distribution, The last PC game that I bought at a store was Sins of a Solar Empire, which is weird because Stardock is good with Online game support.
