I think you realize that what I have done is essentially harmless.
It's not really harmless. Let's say I make a game called 'Jew Massacre' (want to take bets on how long such a game would be kept on a page before the inevitable retraction?). Afterwards, I could post a long pseudo-introspective rant about how I wanted to get it out like vomit, and that people who did'nt get it were idiots, as well as those who thought there was an ironic message behind it(there was'nt). But it's not harmless, in the sense it would quite meaninglessly offend someone; I could make a game called 'alien massacre' or 'robot massacre', and be quite free to express whatever I want through it. Because there is no sense in taking a cultural reference in an era where it is sensitive, unless you have a deeper message that you wish to convey through the experience(like in faith fighter).
Also, is'nt your post contradicting your apology?
I would like to make a public apology for any offense that I might have caused through releasing this game, and to Muslims in particular. My intentions when releasing this project were to mock the foreign policy of the United States and the commonly held belief in the United States that Muslims are a hostile people to be held with suspicion. I would like to make it clear that I have never shared such a belief and my intention was to mock those who actually do believe these things.
What brought me to create this game in the first place was my frusteration at the lack of distinction in our society between Muslims in general and bad people who are Muslims. I have never been able to rationally equate Islam or its followers with violence and the infliction of suffering and I believe that people who do think these things is where the limelight should be shining at this point in history.
Muslims around the world are suffering because others want them to feel bad about themselves, and those others do not want to listen to Muslims when they try to defend themselves. If any good is going to come to light because of this international scandal that I have caused, then I hope it is that people will begin to listen to Muslims because there is a lot they have to say at this point. They are not doing anything wrong, we are simply not listening to them, and because of this they are suffering.
and now
Muslim Massacre is a grand experiment in making you upset, because ultimately you just love being in that bubble, so eat it up.
Unlike some other controversial computer games in recent times that were otherwise motivated towards progress, I never attempted to draw attention to some of society's many ills with Muslim Massacre. In fact, the project was based on an entirely different level, one where these supposed ills are made redundant and entirely irrelevant.
So ultimately, there was no deeper meaning to be found in Muslim Massacre. It was simply a case of me vomiting some garbage on the internet so I could get it out of my system and move on with life. Some people make art to convey something to other people, but I make art to convey something to myself. If the entire world is going to tilt on its axis for my sake, then I suppose that's something I'll just have to learn to accept.
It sounds cowardice and dishonesty is how you chose to evolve then.
