i was thinking about a dating sim, and the only endings are you going home and crying while beating off

honestly, if thats not educational, i don't know what is
Didn't terry make a game like that?

He did, and it was awesome.
Only because it was short. if you want to make a more typical dating game with multiple paths and characters, it would just turn people off. Single ending stories with multiple paths aren't really that great anyway, no matter how awesome they be.

What about an RTS based on Greek mythology?

I had a random idea that fits both the educational and adult themes:

Dance Dance Chip'n Dales: Math edition.

Basic math problems that must have a solution between 0-9 scroll across the screen. The player must hit the corresponding number in time with a pumping techno beat. Success makes the Chip'n Dales dancer gyrate properly to the applause of the crowd. Failure causes him to stumble and get booed.

I dump this idea here because I suck at rhythm games, and dancing. I am sure there are people much better at the both of these skills on this site. I encourage you to take this idea and run with it. I can do some programming and generate tools to help if this project really catches your animation. However I am not going any where near dance choreography. It is better for all of us that way.

A game where you have to guess which steps in Arnold's cat map you are on. This would teach kids the fun of chaos theory! Plus you could have different iterations because its a random sequence that goes into itself.

Two ideas:

A math/education game based on the ideas and principles in 1984.  So, 2+2=5 and so on.

A game based around one of those "30 in 1" electronic lab kits.

 Cry
I've been looking forward to participating in "Adult Games" since it appeared in the Suggestions thread last year... and now I'm too damn busy with work. I guess I could try to make a simple little game.

Here's a more involved idea that I had a while ago, if anyone wants to draw some inspiration from it:

"Nude Dude"
You play the role of a naked guy, trying to reach a goal (eg, your clothes) without anyone seeing your nudity. This means hiding your "naughty bits" behind strategically-placed bushes, fance posts, mail boxes, etc., like in the intro to Austin Powers 2, or the naked skateboarding sequence near the start of The Simpsons Movie.
So you can only move when the townspeople (clergymen, nuns, cops, schoolgirls, schoolteachers, the elderly, camera-clicking tourists, the President...) aren't facing you - or if they are, you'd better have a quick escape route before they (or authority figures that they may summon) beat you to a pulp. For some reason, a naked guy standing behind a bush doesn't irk them.

We need some more T. Rex style Glam Rock!

Quote
Well you're dirty and sweet, clad in black
Don't look back and I love you
You're dirty and sweet, oh yeah
Well you're slim and you're weak
You've got the teeth of a hydra upon you
You're dirty sweet and you're my girl.

Ha, I could totally see that as the background music to many a gratuitous sex scene :D

T.Rex is awesome btw....

Posted in the wrong thread.  I guess I'll take an idea dump right here!

Quiz RPG
Dragon Warrior/Quest motif with quiz questions when the characters attempt to strike.  NPCs in villages will have handy factoids.

Reality Mini Game Compilation
Like Warioware but you always lose.  Imagine a car driving mini game where you're always late to work.  Or a game of paper-rock-scissors with restaurant types in which you always fail to choose one your girlfriend wants.

Adult Video Game Remake
Bubble Bath Babes and Custers Revenge are prime remakes here.  Perhaps a Boong-ga Boong-ga demake?

Calvin and Hobbes, as usual, have insight into this competition.

I'm now considering a Great Depression simulation.

Shooter where it gives you a math equation, you solve it, and the enemy is destroyed. Higher difficulties = higher math.

"Get out of my ass!"

A Castlevania side-scrolling platformer where you are constantly being attacked by things that enter from the rear. So instead of annoying bats, eels hiding in tall grass come out behind you and slow you down while you get them out of your ass.

Hello this is Pencerkoff

Since the idea for this competition arose a few months back or whenever, I really wanted to make a calculus teaching game.  I thought all of this up and dumped it for what I am working on now, but for laughs I thought I'd show it to you all.

An evil wizard would be forcing you to chop an object up and put the pieces into boxes, keeping count of how many boxes it took to hold everything.  Every time you finish, he has another exact copy of the original object, and he asks you to chop it up into smaller and smaller pieces until eventually, while laughing maniacally, he tells you to break the object into an infinite number of infinitely small pieces!

Sir Issac Newton, in a cape and tights, comes out of the sky with a large blender and liquifies the object, and asks you to guess what the actual area of the shape was (based on what number the sum total seemed to be approaching).  If you guess right (or close enough) you go to the bonus round where you have to solve a non-linear differential equation or else a damsel in distress is burned alive by the chain-rule monster or something.

It'd be sweet if somebody out there made a calculus teaching game, though.  You could make some arguments that those tank-shooting games (where you set the angle and firing power) teach physics (and therefore, calculus)... but those don't really give you a feel for anything you haven't learned from throwing a baseball.

As far as dating sims are concerned - perhaps a game about breaking up with a creepy, clingy partner that just won't quit stalking you?

Or, for added educational value, a dating sim where all potential mates are political extremists of varying camps and you need to prove your dedication to the cause or your faith in the values of the ideology to seduce them? Entrepreneurial drive for the neoliberalist, opposition to authority for the anarchist, scepticism towards new trends and respect for authority for the conservative, care for community and shared wealth for the socialist and so on.

I concidered doing a historically accurate game about samurai in ancient Japan - you know, your master is your lover, bullying and killing peasants is a popular pasttime, rape is concidered your "right" if you're a nobleman - in a form similar to, for example, the princess maker games (planning your day, stats, events tied to certain days, multiple endings) with war brewing and the scouts having confirmed that the enemy army is only a few weeks away, to limit the time you have for raping, killing and partying before the game ends. Endings could include the hero, the martyr, the monk, the family man, the rotting corpse, the dishonoured ronin, the honourable suicide, the village menace, the drunk, the loner... and possibly be presented like in the original harvest moon, that many endings are possible on the same run.

But I'm afraid my programming skills leave a lot to be desired and, while it may be easier to research, my knowledge of ancient Japan remains imperfect.
