Yup yup, saw a man on a path too. Plus, thing's gunna be moving. Just show scenes frequently to a couple of dedicated testers - they'll keep you on track. Also, you could play the obscurity for horror/tension if you're feeling like it.

You should make the background darker in the bottom-left one, and the sword should be longer in the bottom-right mock-up (unless it's a knife). The bark on the tree in the top-right mock-up looks a little flat.
Otherwise, it looks pretty cool!

@surt That looks sweet, I'm a sucker for the handpainted look. I think you should add something to the background like stars if they are floating islands or cave walls if it is a cave. Looks a tad plain as is.
