Pixel art and hand-drawn don't fit too well together.. The slight distort thing is nicely unsettling.
Agreed.  There seem to be 4 different styles (Detailed and smooth pixel art, and detailed and smooth hand-drawn art), and they just clash too much IMO.

Yeah, I agree with you guys.
Started with pixels and then got tired and started to do some handdrawn sketch logs and trees and then got even lazier and incorporated some photo elements  Well, hello there!

Kind of a more a mood mockup I guess.

Maybe that kind of style could be further developed in some way. Maybe if there was a way to bridge the different styles in some cool way...
Always hard to make a "taste" fit everyone though...

*inhale* Midtown Turbo Chase Grand Theft Esprit Investigations HQ Madness *huff huff*

If you wanted to, you could use Megazeux or ZZT. They're pretty close to what you've got there.

yeah, megazeux would be perfect because you can edit the charset (so you can make those cars/dudes)

Just fucking around with this. Kind of a mockup, just some tiles/graphics placed in an editor for effect.

I'd suggest you to scale the item bar items again so that they aren't so tiny compared to the box they are in

Cheers for the feedback, I think the action bar item bays were just way too big honestly.

Tried scaling it back to fit the items (so I wouldn't have to draw large versions of every item if I made the game).

Can't the game scale the images?

I usually like to avoid mixing pixel resolutions where possible, but yeah - it's obviously possible.

Looks great, cool lighting and i like that you outlines the moss in black for some reason. Hope you make it into a game.

Metroidvania mockup, still a bit rough. Trying to find a character that works with the environment. Spacemen wear pajama/coverall/onesies right?

Those grates look like the ones DB made for his palette mockups, also I don't think grates are on walls at any time, lol

I like the colors you've got going on - very interesting. And you've got some cool space-men. They look a bit like clowns to me, but I like their style. Nice work!

Fast Times Of the Midnight Youth At Rock and Roll High School

It's the final year before school's out and the principal is acting like a total dick as usual. Tracey said the four baddest gangs are going to get payback big time. I heard from Sandra that the student council are getting in on it too and are totally going to put a stop to that business, bunch of squares. So I guess it's up to you to collect the five elements of the ultimate prank to play on the principal and save summer vacation.

Well, this could go in the 3d art, since it's little more than my first enemy model in a quickly knocked out scene, but eh, here we go.

@Quarry @SolarLune
Generally I start with DawnBringers 16 color palette and then refine/iterate from there. Yes, the grates were heavily inspired by his mockups. The general idea I'm trying to express is a low value background with enough detail to let you discern what is in bounds and out of bounds.

I haven't been in many space stations, what are the walls usually made of?  Wink
