Loving the hard purple shift. totally agree re: the control that 8x8 gives in a scene like that. Rocks seem a bit blobby, works ok on the cliffs, on the map is kinda like "what is that lump of chocolate doing there?"

Thanks geddon, geti :D tiles really just "click" with me, and the modular aspect of them is soooo nice. I could sprite one bathtub, and with minor alterations, I can have a bathtub on every map. Every single one. the purple shifts totally inspired by seiken densetsu 3's cliffs SNES square soft rpgs fo life! edit: also forgot, I agree about the tiny rocks, going to fix it! Cellusious, that looks really really interesting. love the tentacles things on everything

Wrong thread, indie eleven. This is for game mockups. There's a separate thread for general art. here are your tutorials though.

Awesome! How do you make them? It looks like there's some interesting technical stuff going on.
Really love the colors and the claustrophobic atmosphere.

I'm trying to visualize a concept I've been working on, this is kind of rough. The game is rendered at low-res, then scaled up and the sprite colors replaced with higher-res textures. The hero is sky/clouds/stars, the princess is water/ocean, and he tries to help her escape a world inside her mind. Using this tileset and these sprites.

You should try and pixel-ize the sky and clouds also IMO, looks disjointed enough as it is with the different pixel sizes.
