joseph thanks! the game will be a bit on the creepy side, but not typical creepy stuff. more surreal than creepy I rather like the character sprites on your mock, and also look forward to seeing it painted! cellusious woaah man that's balla. I really like the stylish yellow highlights to that "fire" and also the alien figure with glowing eyes.

Yeah I feel like it's weird that you can see the top of the ground but are facing the buildings and backgrounds head on though I'm sure lots of games have done this and it looked fine Scott Pilgrim had to use gradual change in perspective to transition to straight on view for the background

Most beatemups do it. As long as you're consistent, it should be just fine. Could even use it for emphasis, make things 3d-ish to have them stand out from the bg.

This is something i've been messing with for the last couple of days. It's a game idea I had for a 1 dimensional dungeon crawler. Basically the dungeon is the line of enemies and items, you can melee the closest one, ranged attacks go over the top, AOE effects travel in a line, that kind of thing. The pink boxes are are just areas where I can't decide on what's going there yet.

I've been thinking of making one of these one day, too. Your mockup looks great. This type of game was discussed on another forum here--check it out for ideas/inspiration. Could be fun! It would take a set of really solid mechanics for to work well, though.

Ugh I think I like this ground better than just flat.. I dunno If you look at older arcade titles, they usually avoid that weird dual perspective effect by masking the foreground with a parallax layer in the same perspective as the background (with fences, lamp posts, concrete blocks, etc).

This is putting all the background objects in the title scene together. Luckily the actual sequence is almost finished. It's going to be a vertically panning shot with. It plays a lot with layers and moving pieces of the background, like the clouds and the tree. You can compare it to the old one.

Sounds like it would be fun to make a game like this!

My first attempt doing a mockup to improve my pixel art. This is a game idea about controlling a rocket in space with your mouse (or a tap on screen).

I recenetly found my lost vikings discette again. Now that was a good game. I tried to make something within the same kind of style. I kind of dig the result. Might make a brawler with this sprite.

Since it's still a WIP i think it looks really good/promising. the color on the mid-ground trees are every nice, main platforms look good as well as the player/enemy sprites ( I have no idea who's who there, player could be anyone as far as I can tell ).
I guess the font is a bit dull but that's not really a huge issue.
