The comparison to Samurai Jack is fair (I watched the three blind archers recently because it is super awesom).

ty rdein for help w/this Reminds me of Samurai Jack, I imagine this would play somewhat like super brothers: Swords and Sorcery. Yeah, I was gonna say, it looks like it would be an epic samurai tale.

Hmm... I think the yellow may be blowing out the contrast, this seems more readable to me.
I like that one the best! (pink/purple/green..seafoam?)

Oooooh, I was pondering implementing a simplified version of the sand games' water physics JUST like that a week ago Not sure if that's actual physics though or just similar visuals of the liquid. (obviously lava, but liquid nontheless)

It doesn't use real physics. I just place lava blocks in my editor (Ogmo editor!) and then they just fall down until they hit some kind of ground below them. I don't have the time (nor the knowledge) on making actual physics liquid (I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult, and I have a vague idea, but just didn't want to spend the time). I can still do stuff like this too, which is all I really need for the game.

I really like the look of this. Is the grass on the lava floor just going to stay there or burn off?

@Noel: nice colour contrast! I assume the tops of the tiles wobble around to simulate waves?
