In London, on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, people can sign up for an hour slot of free time to do anything they desire, publicly, and have it streamed live on the internet on their website. So far I have seen a man

explain why he loves chocolate
get out a box of chocolates throw them at nearby people
lie down and eat chocolate
and now he is addressing the people again.

Of course, since it's public and live, it might be NSFW depending on what happens. However, I should point out that there's some controversy - a man evidently broke onto the plinth shortly before they began, protesting that it's not truly public since it's regulated (you have to sign up, there are only 2400 slots, etc). What do you think?

Well, why on earth would you think it isn't?

I should add he's brought out a bubble machine now, for no discernible reason.

I've always wanted to be an artist. I had no idea I could become one just by doing random shit in public. I'm going to go make my dreams a reality now. Thanks.

Lets please remain civil in the 'what is art' tangent? We've had these discussions before, they don't end very nicely.

This. You Can piss on a canvas and call it art, and I'm not going to argue with you. I think it's cool that these people are being given a public space to do whatever they want. I'm sure most of them won't be saying anything the least bit meaningful, but so what? I'm sure a lot of cool, creative people will show up too.
