i dont have any respect for kojima because he makes bloated, un-interactive idiotic wannabe-movies.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to 'debate/argue' with someone that knows little about the subject at hand.

Hell, I haven't even played the MGS games and even *I* know about some of the interesting gameplay techniques used to fight the bosses.

But as much as I dislike the control scheme in Solid, I feel I would be right at home with the MSX games.  I really should go find them and give 'em a shot.

I'm not getting my panties in a bunch, I'm just curious. I'm not really an MGS fanboy, but I enjoyed the first 3. I don't care for the fourth that much, though, for the same reason Fish doesn't like the entire series.

Fair enough, I've seen a couple games in this thread that I really like but they don't (for whatever reason.)

I wish I could 'return the favour', but I just can't think of any popular games that I hate.  I guess I don't like Halo.

It feels mandatory to hate Halo for indie cred though, so somehow I don't think it counts.
For me, I just don't like Halo because I feel it got waaay more attention then it ever deserved.  As far as FPS titles go, it's nothing special... especially when compared with System Shock 2 or anything in a similar vein.

But most of the customers I ran into that liked Halo, they never played an FPS before.  I have a feeling it's a really good entry title for people just getting into those sorts of games.  I've been in it for years, which is probably why I found Halo so underwhelming.

Never really got into MSG except for the card-gameish one for the psp which didn't strike me as having too many cutscenes. You know what game did have a lot of cutscenes? Xenosaga... Whoh golly if that game wasn't one gigantic cutscene. Perosona 4 wasn't far behind with its 3 hour game intro (literally). But still, I really enjoyed both of those games.

Anyway I don't see the problem with cutscene heavy games but I'll just end it at that for the sake of thread integrity.

Hehe, I personally really dislike long cutscenes and the like (for the same reasons as everyone else that doesn't.)  I feel like any plot exposition should be at least partially interactive or at least immersive.  That's why I like Half Life 2.

But I'm not gonna begrudge somebody who just wants to crack open a beer and sit back for a spell.  If I did that, I'd have to stop playing MMOs.

Let' see, let's see.

Blood. It's one of the few games that managed to put me in a bad mood. The game is stupid, enemies are stupid, there are completely broken weapons and enemies, and the difficulty curve is all over the place. The last boss is easier then the first level.

Ecco the Dolphin. A boring games about boring dolphins. The plot is retarded (a time travelling dolphin saving the world from an alien invasion? C'mon). And the gameplay is just as boring.

I dislike jrpgs in general. I've found some I like, I'm playing Persona 2 and I fucking love it, I also remember having fun with Dragon Quest, but I usually dislike their style, and I find the combat in most incredibly boring which is potentiated by random encounters and grinding.

I couldn't even get through Bioware's take on Sonic for the DS... no way in Hell am I ever touching anything Sonic ever again.

It sucks too, I actually did like Sonic back in the day (and on the Dreamcast)... but man, you couldn't even pay me to be in the same room with a new Sonic game.

And yeah, Rollercoaster Tycoon was a lot of fun.  Mainly just for hunting and killing patrons with my runaway trains!  It's the only Tycoon that didn't bore me with a lack of devestation.

Sonic is now nothing more than a failed cash cow that Sega keeps milking anyway by putting him in a bunch of crappy games that are nothing like or have anything to do with the games that made it successful.

Honestly, all they really need to do is pull a Mega Man 9 and go back to the basics. But then again, they would probably find some way to even fuck that up as well.

Man, Mega Man 9 was so awesome... I hope they make 10 in the same vein.

Normally I like change and innovation, but leave my 8-bit Mega ALONE!

And you're absolutely right.  Sega would just mess it up.  They'd probably stick Sonic on a unicorn or something.  It's like they're not even trying anymore.

The reason 8 bit megaman worked is that really, megaman hasn't changed much except in graphics over his lifetime. I don't know that Sega would be able to do that anymore - the people responsible left, for one thing, and so on.

Oh, by the way, I remember playing Megaman 9 and a friend of mine getting so annoyed he couldn't charge up, and I rather agree that that would be welcome. Innovation =/= bad.

The Sonic kart racing games are the worst. sonic is faster on his two feet than in some cruddy go-kart, you dweebs!  Facepalm

I don't really have a least favorite game. I have trouble not liking games in general.

bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Anyway, I'm not a big MMORPG fan myself. They always tend to have repetitive gameplay and grinding.

goddamn lets talk about how much new sonic games suck at the very least. i mean shit
Have you played the 2D versions on the DS? They are pretty good. I agree though that the 3D games are pretty sucky after the Adventure series.

Any 3D Megaman game is pretty horrible.

Oh hell no. The Mega Man Legends series is goddamn amazing. Especially the spinoff series the Misadventures of Tron Bonne, that game is just phenomenal, most fun I've ever had with a PSX game ever.

I me-.. well, er, sorry. I don't mean to argue. Carry on..
