Deluxe Paint does this in version 3 (and possibly earlier versions). That might not help you very much though. This seems to be a Deluxe Paint clone for modern OSes, although I only just looked at it so maybe it doesn't do what you want yet. http://code.google.com/p/grafx2/

The power was in the palm of my hand and I lost it This is one of those strange instances where technology has devolved over time. Man, an automatically updating/real-time tiling feature would be really sexy.
Pro Motion does this really well. Ive watched a video off of the pixelation forums of people using this and it looked really really handy.

Are there any good pixel-tutorials specifically for scenery and tiling practices?

I was thinking of doing a few games in a modified two-point perspective, but not *exactly* isometric. The vanishing points would be off-screen, though. The idea is to create a "dual-direction forward" kind of approach/perspective, if that makes any sense. I'm wondering if there's a way to make mirrorable/tileable pixel art that works with a style kinda similar to that.

My friend was just showing me this pixel art tutorial on selective outlining. I'd recommend it as it's pretty informative. Selective Outlininghttp://pixel-zone.rpgdx.net/shtml/tut-selout.shtmlIt explains shading sprite outlines with varying colors to make them less flat: Also, it blows up the sprites without keeping them crisp through 'nearest neighbor' which bugs me, but what can you do

The Art Director of Gando Games, just finished a tutorial about Pixel Art, Sprite Design, this surged as some experience he gained while working in the iPhone Platform, but the tutorial is 100% generic. It may be worthy to check out: http://www.gandogames.com/2010/05/148/

No. I tried Pixen for a while, but dumped it because it kept changing the colour values of the pixels. I'd start of with a 16 colour palette and end up with 30 colours because Pixen kept altering the colours on me.

Can anyone reccommend a good tutorial on how to draw a sprite with more than 8 directions. I'm trying to draw a 16x16 sprite that faces 16 different directions, and while I've been moderately successful with simple shapes, I need to move on to something a little more complicated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
