Speaking of getting straight to the point...what is this game about, exactly? What is the gameplay like? Etc. (I like the art, by the way.)

Thanks for the positive comments about the art Smiley

My Adventures Through Heaven is a game that takes you on a journey through the children's heaven. The game is controlled using the mouse on the top of the screen there is a menu bar to select an item the player left clicks on the item and then tries to figure out how to use the item using various clues along the way.

Items can be in obvious places or sometimes hidden away. The player travels through the childrens heaven finding these items learning along the way what occurs in this place.

Here is a small video clip showing gameplay.

So it's an adventure game? You might have an easier time marketing it if you say so up-front. Smiley

Seems like it's also a religious game. Should be interesting. I liked the artwork so I'll give it a try Who, Me?

EDIT: Played it. The demo was incredibly short (one screen, one puzzle). Didn't get into it before it was over. Definitely not enough to convince me to shell out $20, not knowing how much content there is. The graphics had some charm, but were maybe a little bit stiff overall. Not very preachy for a religious game, pretty straight forward.

For a children's game, maybe it lacked fun factor. The dialogue was very basic, none of the characters had much character, and perhaps audio would've been more stimulating than just plain text.

Is this a game for pedagogical learning? - If so, I think it may be pretty good in that aspect, especially for kids who're just getting into computers and stuff.

I was mainly made curious by the graphical style - On the screenshots it looks rather special in a good sense. But when animated they almost look a bit scary ('cause of uncanny valley), I have to admit.

Thank you for you input Cactus.Smiley

I need to compile a larger demo while at the same time making sure its not too
much for the web server to handle.

As for being a religious game there is the occasional bible verse, but the game is designed in a way so it will not be too pushy or annoy the player with a quiz.

Here is a link to a screenshot that demonstrates how I implimented it, by having a bible
verse that is relevant to the scene.

I wondered about whether I had achieved the fun factor or not, so I tested it
a few months ago.

So far every child who I know has tried it has very much enjoyed it and spent quite a while
exploring around the game.

Another child played the game so much that he was still playing over again a fews days later.

Yes I tried to minimise the use of multiple choice selections
as some people simply don't know how to use them. Though sometimes it
was necessary.

Here is a screenshot example of multiple choice being used in the game.

This game is aimed at a niche market area where I believe there is a gap.

I tried to make the game so the player can explore
here is a screenshot of what you will see inside of one
of the glowing windows.

I hope I am not putting too many images in one thread.

The graphical style is unique and in some ways similar to renaissance art. Watercolor and modern computer graphic art styles were used including 3d for some things for example the lawn.

The flat shading on the curved models in the background looks rather awkward ... I can understand doing that if you're intentionally doing lo-fi 3D, but it doesn't look like that's your goal here?

I have to say I'm impressed by the new screenshots. The demo didn't show them justice, I think. And the graphical style is pretty powerful with its special looks, even if I find the child with a purple shirt at the front of the leaf boat a bit scary-looking (then again, kids may not see it like that)

It's not the type of game I usually like but I believe it is well-done for the kind of players that it is intended for.

- I have one suggestion though, the small text strings (in the dialogs) are difficult to see because of two reasons:

1. The font is quite small, may kids (especially) find it difficult to read. ?
Maybe the text can be enlarged a bit.

2. The white/red color sometimes blends in with the background.
Maybe the shadow around the text-characters can be made wider (to emphasize the characters with its "contrast"), or a single-colored dialog frame/box can be put between the text and the background.

Good luck with the game Smiley
