Names are sooo hard to come up with. I've had a fair few people tell me that Darkness Exhumed isn't the best name or that they don't like it.

Current Name: Darkness Exhumed

Brief description of how the game plays:
The game revolves around building a base and staying alive, while dominating the world. The game focuses heavily on building mechanisms/defenses to aid your surivival however it is possible to survive without, Zombies can break blocks and will eventually force you out of your current location, causing you to constantly move around the map to survive. The game when finished will feature multiplayer and will keep receiving updates for a while afterwards.

What do you think of "Dynamite Vertigo"? It's a working title that my friend and I are using for a heist game.

Painters Guild
A simulation game about managing a guild of painters: hire artists, teach them, make paintings, sell them, buy furniture, get bored.

I'm not the original poster who offered to rate your names (obviously), but here's my opinion on the last few anyway! Just my 2 cents. I have not won any awards for my ability to name games. Yet.

Aaru's Awakening: I am unlikely to remember Aaru. It's a bit too far from any normal name I'd remember, and if I told someone about it I'd have to spell it out loud for them. Your game and concept art looks SUPER AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS btw. Woah. So, anyway, I'd either simplify the name (Aru) so at least it's spelled how it sounds, or change it to be all immediately recognisable words... The Awakening, Dawn's Awakening, The Final Dawn, etc.

Darkness Exhumed: Exhumed is a super archaic/specialised/un-memorable word. Darkness is fine, but exhumed feels clunky. The name also doesn't say "zombie" or "base building" to me, it just says Shakespeare. I'd go for something more like Before I Die or Fort Z or Survivor Camp.

Painters Guild: I love it! And the concept. Kinda tempted to put in an apostrophe though (Painter's?). If you're aiming for more mainstream, of course Painter Tycoon or Masterpiece Tycoon might immediately catch more eyeballs who are looking for interesting sims and can't find a good Kairosoft to play. Wink P.S. In the upper left of your mockup, I think you mean "florins", the currency, not Florence the city?

Also, my game's name is "Shattered Planet". You can see some art and such here: http://www.kitfoxgames.com - critique the name to pieces!

Thanks for the feedback. I meant the city, below that is the year. The idea is that you can make your guild in a few cities of the renaissance: Florence, Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, maybe others. I should make this more clear.

In a Game in a Week contest I made a Zelda-like sci-fi adventure game using Oryx's 1-bit space roguelike art. I called the name 1-bit Space Adventure, but I knew I'd need to change that name eventually.

I settled on Bit. I made a little banner for the game as well:

In the game, you play as a space pilot who's been stranded on a spaceship that's been taken over by aliens. You have limited oxygen and somehow need to survive, fight, and escape. The game plays much like the gameboy Zelda games with many scrolling rooms, puzzles, secrets, and enemies to fight as you adventure through the giant spaceship.

So that's the name I came up with. Bit. I looked and didn't find any other game with that name. I thought it fit the game well because the 1 is implied, being 1 bit. If it turns out well, I'd like to make a series; perhaps a Bit 2 with 2-bit art. Thoughts?

An arcade game where you fight clones of your past self.

I was thinking maybe Worst Enemy, but I'm sure one of you could come up with something better.

Hi!

Game current name is PaperSpace, but since Autodesk seems to own it I'll probably have to let it go.

The other suggestion I have is Spacealot. Mostly thinking the game is about space and there is a lot of it. Tongue

Short game description

A construction space adventure game with a strong influence of crafting and resource gathering.

I'm creating a Space Invaders style game. Instead of lasers, you shoot rockets. The name: Cosmic Rocket Defender. What do you think? Here is an instagram of a screenshot. http://instagram.com/p/bGAd-VQaS4/#

I think just Cosmic Rocket sounds better. To me, at least. But that title is probably me-specific. For something along the lines of your current title, I would recommend..."Defense of the Cosmos", or "Rocket Blast".

Sorry, I'm no good with names...xD Let me know what you think, please!

My personal opinion:

* Fugsnarf: Bit is an awesome name. 5 stars.
* Ghostbomb: Need more info on the gameplay, ideally a screenshot? Worst Enemy isn't bad, but kinda bland. With more information on clones (where did they come from? how do you fight them? why are they fighting you instead of co-operating?), it might be easier to come up with something more unique and flavorful.
* Ankmannen: PaperSpace woulda been cool. Spacealot sounds like King Arthur on the moon (camelot). Plus, in general inventing words causes confusion for people looking for your game on search engines, since they're not sure how to spell it. I would go for Paper Planet or Paper Miner or 2d Industries, capitalising on your unique aesthetic and maybe even your similarities to Minecraft. It's not a clone, though, so I wouldn't go for the -craft suffix.
* AlienSync: I agree with Halogen. Cosmic Rocket sounds cool to me. Can't see your instagram though. If it's VERY close to Space Invaders, you can also link it by the name. Space Attackers, Earth Invaders, etc.

I am working on a 2-player local multiplayer game much like "tag." Each player is strapped with a bomb and one player's bomb is activated while the other player's bomb is inactive. The player with the active bomb must catch the other player in order to activate their opponent's bomb and deactivate their own.

I've named the game "Rigged 2 Blow"

Thanks

I've seen that porn.

How about Blast Tag? Death Tag?

I think the word Tag is pretty universal & you'd benefit from having it in your title, especially since your game is tag.

Ok, so I have a name (hopefully a game at some point too): HEART & SLASH

A hack and slash roguelike (think binding of Isaac meets DmC but limited to what my skills can produce). With a cute robot theming (thus the "heart" in the title...

I always notoriously bad with names, and I feel this might not be an improvement...

To be honest, I posted here expecting very little from the recommendations but dammit you have some good ideas there. LOVE IT! Thanks

I am working on a game called 'Super Obelisk.' It will have combat and a graphical perspective in the style of Link to the Past.

It's called Super Obelisk because each area of the overworld will have a single Obelisk that serves as a central focal point (resupply station, save point, and a few other things). I put the super in front because I want to evoke classic 2D SNES gameplay feelings.

Here's a recent gameplay video:

I maintain a blog with fairly regular updates--I'm developing the engine from scratch, so a lot of the updates are technical and/or engine related. Check it out! http://superobelisk.blogspot.com

Push the button, flip a switch

Game would be puzzle platformer oriented around, you guessed, flipping buttons and pressing switches. There would be also twist to that, but posting it would spoil it.

Can't post screenshot, because game exist only as idea in my head.

I actually like that name. It gives me an idea of what kind of game it is, and intrigues me with something mysterious with a heart.
