"It's never the butler."

A bit close to 'The Butler Did It', a game with almost the exact same description someone made for last weekend's Ludum Dare..

Wow!  Very impressive that he managed to put that together in just 48 hours.  I've been working on mine for three weeks on and off, and it looks like his murder generation system is a good deal more advanced than mine.

But unfortunately, I can't seem to run it;  the Windows port says it can't find the pixel format that it's looking for, and fails to create its graphics window, so I'm left staring at a boring console output window.  Sad

I'd like to hear your opinion of my game name  Smiley

Army of Earth

It is an online-only action-strategy team combat game allowing up-to 6 teams and hundreds of players to play together in an open 3D environment. At least, thats how I think of it.

Of course, I have the domain: http://www.armyofearth.com/

The game itself doesn't really explain the title except in a little poem I wrote:

We are not alone in this Universe,
This hostile Universe,
Where only military might, and species survival
Count for anything.

Earth is but a speck of dust,
With a future of destruction - or of slavery,
Unless we can stand up and be counted
Among the strong, the respected races,
That dominate and rule all the Known Worlds.

So, rise up, soldier of tomorrow!
Commit yourself to Earth's defence;
Prove your worth in this Game of Combat;
Rank well, learn to lead,
And Army of Earth will find you.

Yep, I'm no poet. Should have written a haiku.

My working title was Canes Bellum, which means Dogs of War. Someone else can have that one now!

How about my company name? Fundictive - Fun, Addictive, Fundictive!

I'm happy with it - although google always says "Did you mean: vindictive"
Also I'm sure "addiction" is becoming increasingly non-PC even in gamedev.

Army of Earth

Game looks cool - nice terrain engine and a good concept.

Since you have the domain name already, you're unlikely to want to change this, and that's ok since it's not a terrible name. But I think you could have chosen a name with a little more flavour, like 'The Earthling Horde'.

How about my company name? Fundictive - Fun, Addictive, Fundictive!

I think Google has this one right, it sounds like you're saying 'fun and vindictive'. Is it a good thing to evoke vindictiveness in your company name? Not sure. But my bigger objection to the name is that it's one of those really awkward portmanteaus that makes people cringe. Like 'fungineering' or 'Bennifer' or 'dogfessions'. Good portmanteaus roll off the tongue, like 'gaydar', 'cyborg' or 'frenemy'.

OK thanks...

Maybe I will just add a vindictive twist to my products?    Wink

Hang on a moment while I register all those cool domains you mentioned.   Smiley

Is fundictive really cringeworthy? I'm going to say it to every one I meet and see how many cringe.

I thought fundictive was funny precisely because it was so cheesy :D And because it's clear that you've intended to merge the words "fun" and "addictive", but it sounds more like vindictive, which was even funnier.

Come to thing of it, Benzido, how's distractionware? I've got a story behind it and everything! Smiley

I'm currently working on a black, white and red platformer about a little girl on a floating island...the name I've thought up is Mara's Tale. What is thought of it?

I'm in the process of making a very simple platformer on clouds. It's small and unambitious but it still needs a name, the main character is the little dude to the left and he jumps on clouds and stuff.
I got as far as "Cloud Chaser" or "Cloud Runner" but those names are sort of "meh". Any suggestions are highly appreciated!  Grin

Instead of just Cloud Chaser, you could use specific types of clouds in your name: Cumulus, Nimbus, Cirrus, Stratus, etc.

I've been working on a game (with breaks mind you) for the last year; Its basically a very dark, action adventure RPG with heavy exploration and atmospheric elements. Kind of Castlevania meets Devil May Cry meets Shadow of the Colossus sort of. Basically its a very 'Gothic' game, with lots of despair, general unhappiness, and death.

I've named it 'Requiem'. Is this a bad name? If so, is there anyway I can fix it? Or atleast, any thoughts on the matter?

Requiem is an excellent name for a game like that, but I'd be astonished if someone else hadn't already thought of it for a commercial game.

Thanks; A quick google search brings up something called Requiem: Bloodymare, a band or two, and a movie.

I think as far as games go, Requiem alone seems to be untaken.

Try adding some other words before or after the word 'Requiem'. I dunno what though. Kind of unhelpful, huh. But Requiem is still a good word.
