Doors.

Or,

Windows.

Or if not that, try for something that relates to your crazy reflection-world thing which is what separates your game from the other Portal clones.

the game is already published, but humor me anyway: Key to Adventure.

It's a puzzle platformer where you put keys into doors using two characters with different abilities in tandem. Fun.

I'd like to think it is pronounced with a pause after the first word.

"Key... To Adventure!"

Although, I'm not Benzido. Where's he gotten to?

I'm here! Sorry for abandoning my thread for so long.

Ok, in reverse order,

Quote from: Zachary Hinchliffe
Key to Adventure
I always try to imagine the game in my head before I read the description. In this case, I am imagining an adventure which focuses around fetching keys and opening doors. But it sounds like the hook of your game is cooperation, not keys - thank goodness! You need a title which evokes fun, mind-bending cooperation. What's the word of the moment? Coopetition.

(note: 'Hammerfist' was a game where you used two characters with different abilities in tandem to put keys into doors. But they named it after only one of the characters, which I thought was sexist)

Portal 2D
This is a classic case where the name establishes the parameters of the game. If you go with this name, your game is guaranteed to be worse than Portal, and not to add anything to the concept. Choose a name which inspires you to come up with new hooks. Like, for example, Spooky Action At A Distance.

Quote from: codemeister1990
Gods Of Earth (GOE for short)
I agree with the others, this is very blah, and the short version makes it even more blah. Knowing nothing about the concept, though, it is hard to come up with a constructive suggestion. If you do stick with this name, DON'T shorten it to 'GOE', that means nothing.

Quote from: Carefree Games
Humdrum
Yeah this is a great name to use. My suggestion goes more toward your game concept than the name - if you're going to call it 'Humdrum' and use that art style, you had better add totally non-humdrum aspects to the game design. Either an epic, catastrophic plot, or some completely surreal design elements, or something else that is extremely surprising. The last thing you want is for people to play it and think 'wait, this game is humdrum.

Quote from: dsvoid
JOHN AWESOME.
I love the game idea, and I agree that this naming concept is a good one, but I don't think you've nailed it, exactly. John Awesome doesn't sound awesome enough, and it's maybe a little too literal. You need a name with more aural hardness to it, like 'Max Factor' or 'Wolf Blitzer'. Something like CAPTAIN CUBICLE.

Quote from: Sigvatr
Muslim Massacre
Only if it's muslims doing the massacring. That would be a nifty surprise, especially if they were white anglo muslims! Otherwise, no.

Quote from: Radnom
Stumpy the Cripple
I like this, but I would think it was funnier to call it Vestigial Arms.

As per my 'to do list', I now come here for discussion of this very important point of my demake attempt.

Hmm.  Turning megaman into Lady Million, it's current title, is a bit cheap.  How about 'Left-handed gunwhore'?  (I've made the character left-handed, you see).  That's maybe a bit offensive though.

As for the 3 other minigames that hopefully will find there way in eventually, we have as preliminary titles for them:

"Specimen Collector" (biocosm)
"Hooker Dance Academy" (tenuously Ciellus-based)
"Sick Panda"

I actually quite like Lady Million! Maybe 'Lady Million 1D,' to stress its uniqueness in a corny way?

I've actually grown fond of it as well, in spite of its formulaicness.  I'll try calling it Lady Million 1D for the next week to myself and see how it goes down with my psyche.

Hi!

I'm searching a name for my one man team. Until here i though i would call it "Homeworks" but now it don't feel like what i want to express with this team name.

So few months ago i though about something like "Exception Prone" but someone told me it was a bit ....i don't know the word in english, when you make feel others that you are good but it's pretentious, yes pretentious if it's english.

So now i'm thinking about something like : "Improbable".

What do you think?

"Homeworks" is a cool name, but maybe you don't want to express the idea of working in your bedroom.

"Improbable" is ok, but it doesn't express as many ideas. Maybe that's not a bad thing.

How about Psingularity or Psingleton? I didn't add the Ps to make it more extreme, I added it so that you can be Googled. I also like The Lonely Coder for its mystique.

Or something to express the idea of an inspired, mad genius. Dr Addiction's Underground Lair.

No, though. I have two real suggestions, ironic though they be:

1) Games For One

2) The Massive Collective

Haha i like "The Massive Collective"  :D

But i don't want to focus on the fact that i'm alone in the team because once my project is done i will need other people to come.

What i want to focus on is the concept of impobability of the resulting production : like when you say about something that shouldn't happen : "it's not impossible, it's just improbable".

The concept of something that is possible but that nobody does or sees etc, like something rare in universe, is fascinating.

I hope to build only games that are "improbable". Not sure about the word itself, so i ask. Maybe a synonym, but i did'nt found something that is better to describe the concept.
