Hello this is Pencerkoff
Spontaneous Ignition is great, even if it isn't truly spontaneous.
Gigglemoo: I'd go with "Rockethell in Vegas" with no need for a subtitle. Rockethell sells me on so many levels. Might consider creative font use to distinguish between the words as to avoid the "th" thing going on, wouldn't go hyphen though.

My game's current name is AstroMiner. It can be found at http://www.astrominer.net. The problem is that the game isn't really about mining.. you mine asteroids to get resources, but the point of the game is to build a base and make it secure enough to terraform. Once terraformed, you build teleports to be able to travel to other asteroids. Mining is a very small part in this, yet anytime someone hears AstroMiner they give me flack about it being another mining game. I was thinking of Astro-1. The main ship in the game is Recon-01, so it's a play on AstRO-1. Any opinions on this?

How is "Hunt*Evade"? I thought the asterisk would make it quirky.

Hello this is Pencerkoff
dangerz : Astroform or Astroforming
J.R. Hill : VGNG?
AaronLee : You want a quirky name? Be more creative than Hunt and Evade. What's the game about?

Yeah, the name is basically indicative. Those are the two things that the game revolves around so I figured "Why bother being grandiose." Silent Quary maybe? since you're basically eluding capture and trying to maneuver to defeat your persuers.

I've got a game in the works called 'Public Investigator.' The full name is 'Public Investigator: Curse Of The Swamp Monster.' I've had so many doubts about the name...it seems rather stupid...even to me. But its a rather goofy game with cute characters, but a lot of dark and creepy stuff goes on in it that makes you think about stuff. Here's some screenshots if that helps- What you guys think? Stupid title? Good title? Okay title? Would you play a game called 'Public Investigator' or 'Public Investigator: Curse Of The Swamp Monster'?

I wouldn't call it "Public Investigator" at all. Maybe something with Detective? Or Strict Investigator.

The player is like a detective, right? Is he working for the government or for himself? If is the first one, "public" is okay. If is the other one, "private" is the right word.
And could be more interesting if you put the name to the character in the title. An example of this one could be "Professor Layton", a NintendoDS game about a detective.

Well I'm aware of the difference between a public and a private investigator, and as stupid as it may seem even aware of these differences I was wanting to call it 'Public Investigator' just because it was simple and not very much heard of. Calling the game Private Investigator would be accurate, but it just seemed so stereotypical and didn't quite convey the goofy cutesiness of the game. I can't use the character's name because he doesn't have one, it's up to the player to choose it. Well the game plays similair to Animal Crossing in a lot of ways... But the detective you play as travels from place to place without a steady home. Even though in this small game he lives in a house throughout it, in the tutorial he is living in a train car. So how about...
The Traveling Investigator? Nah..
I kinda like 'The Homeless Detective' It's very goofy I think, but would people be able to enjoy something like that and remember it? Or better yet 'Detective Hobo' or in full 'Detective Hobo: And The Curse Of The Swamp Monster' or maybe Swamp Monster Incident.

I'm making a text-adventure/roguelike, my working title is "Dungeoneering 101." However, I feel that fails to represent my game. It was originally gonna be a one word name such as "Explore!" But that was when the Explore button would come up more often, now there's an "exploring" screen, but not an explore button. My other fear relating to dungeon type names is that the entire game does not take place in a dungeon, it's just one out of three zones, similar to Nethack.

The Hobo Detective is more title-like. The Hobo Detective in: The Curse of the Swamp Monster – Title and subtitle. But be careful, 'Hobo' may not be the right word you want because it implies he's dirty, poor, low-class, etc. 'Nomad' or 'Vagabond' are less pejorative.
