So the Metroid Prime re-release on Wii is out; all three games for the price of one, and MP1 and 2 now having full Wii Controls and Widescreen, which for those that played 3, know is a very, VERY good thing.

So yeah, anyone else getting this?  MP1 is definitely one of the best games ever made (I don't throw that around lightly, and from experience it seems a lot of other people feel the same way), but 3's controls were much nicer; gotta love that MP1's the best of both worlds now!  Grin

I ordered it online from Gamestop because I wanted the pre-order stuff.  And then I get an email that says they ran out of the pre-order stuff.  What the fuck.  : (

But yeah, I havent played through MP1 since it came out and I'm super pumped to go through it again with Wii controls.  I loved the controls in MP3.

Are these games difficult? I'm not exactly the greatest of shooter players, and my brother said they were quite hard. But I really want these games.

No, I wouldn't say that they're really hard.  Just stick to normal mode and you should be able to make it through just fine.

And yeah, MP1 is a game you just can't miss playing; really one of the best of the best.  Smiley

I've known about this re-release for awhile, so I've actually forced myself not to replay the game and instead wait for this.  I'd actually been bitching for a bit about "how awesome it would be if they re-released MP1 with Wii controls," so when they announced it I was a little taken aback, as stuff people bitch about almost never actually happens.  :D

People who did not own a gamecube are in for a treat, but I already own all three MPs (as well as the original Pikmins...) and I actually find these re-releases annoying - especially considering that the Wii has perfect backward compatibility...

Release some *new* games for Wii for a change, Nintendo!

I know the first game isn't, but the bosses are really tough. I've been stuck on one boss for a few months now. I'm pretty bad at shooters as well, though, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Just go slow and be careful, and you'll probably do fine.

Those games have some of the best bosses, and some great areas like Phendrana Drifts... I need to replay them. But MP3 is SO easy. Play it on hard mode all you, I beg you.

Yes, I played MP3 on Hard mode and still rarely died.  MP1 is super rad, but I'm torn about shelling out $50 for widescreen MP1, especially since I own MP1 and MP2 on gamecube (and have a wavebird) AND MP3 on wii already, and MP2 is a giant piece of detestable shit

This is where a hard drive would've been ace, Wiimote support would be easy to add through downloaded software.

Lucky (or unlucky) enough to have not played 1 and 2 yet, so I'm going to be playing the crap out of this.

Quote from another website about this game:

Quote
Dear [name of site],

Have you never played any of these video games: Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption?
Have you never played Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and experienced its amazing controls?
Did you think Metroid Prime and/or Metroid Prime 2: Echoes could have benefitted amazingly from better controls?
Do you like amazing games with 80-plus hours of some of the best action-adventure gameplay money can buy?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions:

Do you own a Wii?
Does anyone in your residence own a Wii and is willing to let you use it?
Do you have a friend that can and is willing to lend you their Wii?
Do you plan on getting a Wii in the near future?
Would you mind buying a Wii (and if not at $250, provided you could find one at a price you are willing to pay for it)?

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions:

BUY METROID PRIME TRILOGY! BUY IT NOW! GO TO YOUR LOCAL STORE THAT SELLS GAMES* AND BUY IT! JUST GOD DAMN BUY IT, NOW!

*for some shitty reason Wal-Mart USA doesn't stock it in their stores.

For those not in the know, the game is Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the first two games being enhanced with the fantastic Wii pointer controls, enhanced widescreen, and bonus content from the third game, all on one Wii disc; packaged in a collector's addition metal case with an art book and series biography, for the same old Wii game price of $50.

This game is the second best gaming-related bargain ever (first is the Orange Box). It is also the only re-release I've ever seen that's not only worth buying, but the only one that I can describe as a must-buy in any sense of the word.

You will not be sorry.

This just about sums up my opinion on that.

I think it's time for me to enjoy the first one all over again.  But I somehow doubt I'll like the second one, even if I try it again.

But damn...this is a very good deal.  METROID GET!  Grin

I'm replaying the 2nd on gamecube now (cause i'm too cheap to buy the trilogy) and god damn do they have to put the save points so far away from the hard bosses? Spider guardian... god damn it. I lost and saw how far back I was and was like fuck this i'll pick it up tomorrow.

MP1=SM > MF=MP3 > MP2 > M > MPH > M2 (of the ones i've played) is my preference (still need to do zero mission)

Zero mission is friggin' awesome.  I mean, yeah it's a bit directed and blah blah whatever.

Get it.  Play it.  Fun!  Grin

Man, I remember Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It really was terrible. I got stuck on the Boost Guardian boss, which was like, a stupid unprotected (constant atmosphere damage) room in Dark Aether with only a limited amount of energy you could get back, and the only real way to hurt him was while rolling around in morph ball form while getting hit by hard to dodge puddles of goo and dash attacks which weren't that dodgeable with how small the room was. It started off okay, and I really enjoyed the controls and targetting systems, but the boss difficulty combined with annoying dark world "run madly while you can't see to prevent dying from atmosphere" just got idiotic.

Of the Metroids I've played, I'd rate them:
SM>MZM>MF>>>MP2

I don't own a Wii, but I think I should find myself a cheap copy of MP1 for Gamecube, since I always hear good things. I guess I'm just paranoid it'll be as bad as Echoes somehow. I don't know why. But for about $10 now I could find out for sure!

Huh you didn't play metroid prime 1?

My god you NEED to. It's up there with Super Metroid on at least an equal level with it. Metroid made as smooth of a transition to 3D as zelda and mario, but it skipped the awkward N64 phase
