Tarboy

Possibly the best flash animation I've ever seen. The animation is superb, the art is stylistic, the music is good, the story is neat, and most of all it's paced correctly and it's timing is spot on. It just smells so professional compared to the sea of crap that 94% of flash animations are.

Plus the pistons in the credits are pretty sweet.

I thought some of the scene transitions should have been smoother. But, other than that, this is quite excellent Smiley
Looking forward to the Music of Tarboy.

goddamn awesome.

Also the sequel has already been made. something about a ball of tar going into a dungeon to rescue his girlfriend or something like that.

yea, this is really well done.

btw, did you watch the bonus features? it looks like they even did some of the characters in 3D. i'm wondering if they render those out in something else and brought it in later. plus the particle effects demos in there look like it might be a similar situation.

i was also impressed with the voice acting.

I think as it was a film school project they may have been required to do 3D concept models even if they weren't using them in the animation.. i base that on absolutely nothing

"Shut up Billy!"  :D

I love it. Great script, music, storyboarding, and moments of brilliant animation.

i thought it was really good, but it could have been better if it stuck to the original song and the old guy telling the story the whole time. i didn't think they had a very good transition to the part when he was in the water cooler and the song changed, it sounded like  it got cut off.

I didn't much care for the style either.

But more specifically: why is it that people are starting to draw mouths that protrude all the way past the back of the jaw of the face they are supposed to be a part of? Like it's a stuck-on mouth.

Penny Arcade do it, lots of other people do it, so clearly plenty of people have seen it and decided "yes, this is cool; I will incorporate it into my style". So is it only me that thinks it looks really, really crap?

Great animation all around (and nice glowy colors in the dark scene) but I kept wishing to be even more musical. I mean like a musical with dancing and singing... Corny Laugh

maybe in the sequel?

Those glows were very, VERY nice. I wonder if it would be possible to replicate them with a simple shader. I should look into this.

Looks way way way too much like Flash for me. And all the animation is about 150% too exaggerated just like most Flash stuff. I much preferred Bitey of Brackenwood.

No. Nor am I much of a fan of the split head model.
