ah -- well, a starfield is just a graphic, no? how can a graphic have no gravity? it's depicting something with no gravity, but it's just an image, like any other image

but back on topic: wing commander also had no gravity; most space flight sims don't -- tie fighter is another

uh, I think you're taking it a bit too literally. actually, you know what, nevermind.

It was a (pointed) joke.  I might as well ask you how an absence of friction can have no gravity.

Oh Paul Eres, what a character. Don't explain the joke to him, this thread won't go anywhere. We'll be debating this for days. Instead, let's move on please. :D

That would be inertia then, which has, unlike friction, at least a passing relationship to gravity.

Paul knew it was a joke, he was just trying to come out with the last word.

I came across one of those SD cards that let you play DS games on it earlier this summer. I played Super Mario 64 DS with a couple Gameshark-like cheats on it, and it was an experience. With "Moon Jump" and "Sprint" activated, it completely changed the way you played it. Internet in Alaska is terrible, so I won't try, but I'm sure Youtube has a couple videos of it in action. Shrug

Judging by the number of jokes being made, I would humbly suggest that this thread also lacks gravity.

I guess Asteroids is the best example of zero gravity in a game.

note to self: humor just doesn't come across on the internet unless its too obvious and unfunny.
